The platinum has a so-called acoustic windshield for less noise, not sure if there's any difference in glass chipping but I suspect not.

I noticed the same feeling about the Lariat leather being stiffer than the Platinum. I preferred the feel of the Lariat leather, since I was equating stiffness to thickness and long term durability (probably incorrect thinking, though).

I also do not like the tailgate on the Platinum so it was not an option for me.

Lastly, I got power running boards and love them since I actually use them when I step into the truck. They are not rusting, but I have only had the truck for a month.

No regrets with an almost fully loaded Lariat.

Default can you swap out seats

I;m getting mixed review on Lariat swapping seat for platinum seats in a lariat. it seems the swap would work other thing i can tell is that maybe the massage will not. But i think it can. harness has same numbers of wires and module under seats are the same except for the massage. Massage seat may work n the manual button but not the Nav screen.

any inputs

I have a 2015 KR FX4 with a 4" suspension lift and without the retractable running boards it would be very difficult to get in and out, so if you are thinking of leveling or lifting the truck I would recommend the retractable boards. Also I've had several trucks with the retractable boards and the never rust due to the undercoating on them, nor have I had them ever break or stop working.

I recommend the Plat, you can blackout or black chrome the tailgate cover as some have done on this site. See Plat thread.

Good luck and congratulations on what ever you choose

I know this thread discussion is a bit dated but the topic is not. I share that I bought a 2015 Lariat loaded that had the light tan seats. The leather was perforated but it was, as another stated, plastic-like. Not because of thickness but more to the leather quality of coated leather or painted leather. It is what I would qualify as entry-level leather seating.

I just purchased a '17 Platinum. The leather is Brunello but it is more Lincoln-like compared to a more Fusion or Taurus leather of the Lariat. The seats do have massage in the front. I was going for another Lariat but ended up with a Platinum and like it. The power boards are lower. My mother can now get in the truck with no issues like she had with the Lariat- added bonus. The King Ranch, by the way has, in my opinion, an equivalent quality leather to the Platinum however, it is not a "finished" leather as it requires periodic maintenance according to the manual. A friend who had a KR told me he liked it but that the seats scratched with finger nails and it was true to its name "saddle leather". He did not like the scratches though. My opinion is that the Platinum is a high quality coated leather and the Lariat is a lower grade coated leather. They are the most durable in a vehicle and do not require ongoing maintenance to stay nice. The only thing I do not like about the Platinum is the body-colored rear bumper but I understand that too much chrome with brushed trim would not look good together.

I also found the fixed ones don't get used for intended purpose when you exit vehicle; namely since they are so high you just slide your calves over them and dirty up the back of your pants. Its sad to hear the retractable ones rust real bad, does anyone know who the manufacturer is ?
My 91 year old Mother could not get in my '05 F-150 with fixed running boards without a step stool. She has no trouble getting in my '15 platinum with the retractable running boards. The retractable running boards are rust free.

LOL exactly. They are lower and mom has hip issues and struggled to do the one leg support on the fixed board of the Lariat. I cannot vouch for the rust issue only two weeks into it. It did make a difference for mom. I notice it too. They are all nice trim levels. It's just that it seems that the Platinum is the Lincoln F150. I like them all!

thanks for your service!
I maxed out a Lariat but still got Lariat value on trade in. It would have paid me back on trade in if I had bought a Platinum. Which is what I am doing this next time.

The things I love most about my Platinum are not available on the Lariat.

I went for a loaded Lariat sport. I didn't want to move up due to all the shiny trim.
