Default Leak under 2016 2.7 EcoBoost - Carbon?

I have a 2016 2.7 EcoBoost. My wife saw two leaks on the driveway after I left for work this morning. She described them as looking like "creosote." They look similar to a quarter-sized spot I found weeks ago that looked like carbon.

I wonder whether there's a leak problem, or is this a natural emission of carbon from the exhaust system? If it matters, I've made 10 or 12 short errand drives over the past few days, and it's been very cold -- 7 degrees when I left this morning.

Here are some photos:

Thanks,
GT

Your exhaust has small drain holes to drain any condensation buildup. This is the nasty soot in muffler mixed with that condensate as it drained. No problem.

^ What he said!

Looks like the spot where you remote start the truck and let it warm up. It's just a bit of a mess, nothing to worry about.

Thank you, Bravo3Eco and white15lariat. That's the good news I halfway anticipated (and the bad news my wife won't like!)

Happy New Year!

My 2015 F-150 with the 2.7L Eco Boost would let marks on the driveway like that. Now the 2017 with the 3.5L Eco Boost I have now I haven't noticed this at all on it!!!

I used to get that from my 2012 3.5L EcoBeast and I get it form my 2015 2.7L EcoBeast. I'm surprised you're not getting it from you 2017.

My 2017 2.7 did this a couple times in the morning letting it warm up in the driveway when I parked in the driveway overnight when it was cold outside - it really made the driveway look like ****. But I don't notice this when I park in the garage, which is where I normally park. But I don't let it warm up in the garage either so I don't have enough personal data to really help - ignore this post.
