Lariat leather seat treatment?
#11
After doing a little research and discovering that leather seats are more like vinyl than leather...seems to be well understood that most all leather in automotive use (except of course Bentley and the like) is a coated leather with a polyurethane product which makes sense with the the way the leather feels and and that any liquid that hits it beads and doesn't soak in... I mused the 303 Protectant on them and wow. Perfect. Rub it in really good and in about 20 minutes the seats look and feel great and are now very well protected.
Reading some auto detailing forums most seem to agree that any leather product really doesn't work on the coated type leather we have in these trucks.

Well put...I wandered if anyone was going to say that.

but you are mostly right and even bentley, rolls, etc etc leather is treated too - still has to meet DOT specs for fire and the like - which is what that coating is for. some use better grain leather than others. - and the hides are soaked in the chemicals as part of the tanning process for auto leather.
ANYWHO - to that end - I still use Lexol cleaner and Lexol conditioner on mine. works very well and keeps the leather supple for the most part. The leather in my Pontiac G8 has always been on the tougher side from day one.
