I just noticed you've got two or three struts on every panel of that garage door. Code required where you are? That thing must be stout.

My 16' garage door only has one strut and it's on the top panel. That panel started to bow in the middle just from being open, so I straightened it with a piece of steel cable and some channel. My next one will be better braced.

Probably required by code to make the garage door meet wind load requirements. When a door or window blows in the damage to the home goes way up. Need to maintain a tight envelope.

tmh23 - stay safe.

Wow, that's a tight fit! You probably wont be able to slide a piece of paper between the truck and the door once it is closed. Stay safe down there, and make sure you look after yourself and your family as well as you did your truck.
The truck can be replaced... Looks like it's going to get rough. I'll be praying for all of you that are in this monster's path!

The tails off got me the 1/2 I needed to close the door with out having to take any cross braces off the garage door

I thought about that but didn't want to deal with the electrical. I'm mapping out the cutout to nose the front in for next time.

There aren't going to be any keys left after this.

I'm thinking maybe the BLISS tail lights which protrude a little more then the regular ones.

My screw long bed is about 3" too long for my garage too - so I would have to do something similar to get it inside.

Good luck down there!

Good idea. Except he'll only gain 1/2" unless he removes the studding as well. Seriously though, wish all the people in Florida a safe weekend, and hopefully the storm will turn East off of land.
