Lariat and above owners how do you lock your truck?
#21
I lock with keypad and unlock with keypad. Key stays in small cubbyhole left of push to start button.
Funny, when I drive my wife's Lincoln I keep the key fob in my pocket. The keypads is easier to use on my F150.

If I'm alone, I usually lock with fob as I'm walking away and unlock with handle. Now if I have other people with me, I unlock with the fob, to try and prevent them from ripping the door handle off prior to it unlocking (usually my son). ...or worse, pulling it as it unlocks. -.-
And there are some people I know that will keep tugging the handle hoping it would magically unlock...

I did not see ALL THE ABOVE... as an option.
I do them all... it just depends on what I am doing at the moment.
now.. Normally - every day scenario, I use the touch pad on the handle. unlock and lock
If I forgot my key... I use the door code - and sometimes I do this on purpose, because I was too lazy to get the key.
If it is raining, I unlock with the fob as I approach, so I am not waiting for the hesitation it takes to unlock using the handles touch sensor.
Sometimes, I started walking away and realize, I didn't lock it, so I use the fob then.
I do all the options.

I'll admit I'm not a hacker/cryptographer by trade but I do dabble in software so to speak. with a 128 bit key you have 2^64 chances to hit the correct combination. If the key is symmetrical you need at a minimum 2^8 correct rolling codes to be able to accurately guess the pattern of the authentication key. Or something like that.
so 256 real codes to capture the pattern. My point you can't get that with 1 unlock or even 20 unlock commands captured remotely. Or so the story goes.
I might be wrong but 10 years ago when I asked around about this I was told even on 32 bit encryption it's not a 1 minute exercise and you'd have to capture a number of button presses.
Key piece of kit here is the rolling code system - every time you press lock, or unlock, or start, or ect - the fob doesn't transmit the exact same sequence of data. Just like your garage door opener if it's newer than say 2000.
I'll put it to you this way - most paranoid person I know in the IT group of my company uses her car's key fob remote and entry systems. Know what she doesn't use - a smart phone.

For some reason, I use a variety of ways to lock my truck. Sometimes I hit the button on the way out, sometimes I use the handle to lock it, and sometimes I use the fob. It probably has to do with what I’m doing when getting out.
Normally, I use the handle to unlock it...unless the family is ahead of me, in which case I’ll use the fob so it is unlocked for them.
