Which dealer do you use? Just curious? Is it Bill Estes Ford?

Well I finally got my truck back from the dealership today for the rattling in the moon roof. Before I took it the service manager was in communication with Ford discussing my case number. After leaving it there 3 days I call back. Service manager says " I'v had 5 different guys in your truck and none can hear the noise. I said " do you see that leather vinyl conditioner in the back seat I put on so we don't hear it anymore? He said I was obstructing them from finding the issue and there were not any TSB's on 2017 250's. I'm back at square one. Looking into Lemon Law, just getting ready to hit 7,000 miles.

Any advise on how to direct dealership on an issue on 2017's and F250's would be greatly appreciated

I was told the same regarding my F150. "I had my whole team drive that truck and they cannot duplicate it". It was complete BS since my mileage hadnt changed more than a mile. I asked the Manager to drive it himself and amazingly enough he heard it. Now the TSB he found didnt fix it but at least he heard it. Have you requested the Regional Service Managers info to contact him? It might 1)open the dealers eyes or 2)they might give you that info which I would think would help you out.

Yes I have had Ford Customer Support involved. I received a CASE ID number. Spoke to a senior support guy

He dismissed my case because the dealership wasn't able to identify the noise when I took it this last time. Noise had be identified 3 other times, they removed the headliner 2 other times. The reason it wasn't making the noise now because I used the temporary fix in this thread ( leather vinyl conditioner) . Service manager had told me track was coming in. I felt no reason I had to duplicate noise for a 4 time.He in fact nerver had this track coming in.
I tried lemon law act and was told there hasn't been enough fixes. 4 month old truck 4 service calls
75K for a truck that pops and cracks at every bump. " the most capable truck ever"

The circumstances which you outlined concerning your 2017 F-250 have been given careful consideration.

Ford Motor Company considers the satisfaction of its owners to be one of its most important objectives. We commit very substantial resources and effort in a sincere attempt to resolve the concerns of our owners. Although we regret not being able to meet your expectations, our review indicates that the prior decision is appropriate. Therefore, we are unable to be of assistance in this matter. After careful consideration we are supporting the previous decision and will not be able to grant your request due to your dealer was unable to verify the concern. Until such time as the dealer is able to duplicate the concern, they will be unable to make repairs to the vehicle. I recommend you seek a second opinion from another Ford dealership.

Thank you for contacting Ford Motor Company, we hope you understand our position on this matter. We look forward to servicing your vehicle in the future.

My '15 Platinum 4x4 rattles as well. I haven't had a chance to read all 17pgs of this thread yet, but it sounds like there is absolutely zero fix? It's a rattle, like plastic-on-plastic, so grease wouldn't have any effect on that. I think I read somewhere that was the dealership's recommendation

Sounds like you guys have identified exactly where the rattle is located though, somewhere along the track? Has anyone thought lining the track with thin foam tape or something?

I just purchased a 2004 F150 Lariat with a power moon roof with 174,000 miles that is in excellent condition. It has a knocking noise in the roof as well. If I hold my hand up on the headliner behind the moon it stops. Does the 2004 moon roofs possibly have the same issue? I notice that most people in this forum have newer trucks.

Try slick tape. Between the two glass panels where they meet. That's helped mine

Took mine to the dealership this weekend and pointed out TSB 0020 and the took care of it (no more noise). They actually told me it is the seal around the moonroof class that moves and the back window. They followed the tsb for both, problem solved (for now).

Hey, there is another thread here I just found with similar rattle on 2015 with moonroof...Owner diagnosed it as the headliner above the rear entry lights/coat hook...headliner is held in place by magnets and rattle comes from that area...Mine just started rattling so I went and looked and sure enough that's where its coming from. We each slipped some padding in on either side of the magnet which seems to keep the 2 pieces of metal (roof & thin metal headliner frame) from contacting and stopping the rattle....the magnet holds strong, but the clearance between these 2 pieces is what was causing our rattle...padding (he used a microfiber cloth, I used thin sheet foam packing material) seems to solve the problem
