I'm gonna go ahead and suggest a Tesla should be your next vehicle, as they make fewer odd noises. If I chased every squeak, clunk, thump, rattle, and bang on my truck I'd go insane. I was never part of the original thread, but if I gather correctly you've been trying for 3 years to find a dealer to "fix" this knock? In all those three years you were still driving the truck? Did you get any scope pictures of these scored piston walls and spun bearings? I'd be curious to see...

Look, I realize that some people get frustrated by people coming on here and reporting their negative experiences but what's the point of posting something like this? A dealership replaced the engine after replicating the same noise with the old engine that I have with my new one. I was told it was not their first and after talking with others on the forum they've had similar experiences. I doubt they would drop a new engine in (a $12,000-15,000 repair) for no reason. They wouldn't have pulled apart the other engine, pistons out, crank out, cams, etc all for no reason.

I do not have pictures all I have is my invoice which describes in abbreviated form what I was told by the service advisor and service manager about my truck. I own 5 gas-powered vehicles that are quiet, no taps, no knocks, no strange noises of any kind really, and all but one has higher mileage (including one with well over 300,000 miles). Say what you want but after seeing blue smoke at start-up, hearing for myself the knock with a stethoscope, I highly doubt that the dealership (or Ford) would drop that kind of money for no reason. Especially with a vehicle currently under litigation.

Just be happy that yours doesn't have issues and keep your negative comments to yourself.

Notice the initial taps and the noise it makes under slight load.
I just listened to the video of your original engine now.
As a journeyman ag machinery tech my honest opinion is there is something wrong in there.
As the teardown showed.
The typewriter noise didn't bother me much, but the deep hollow thud sound that alarmed me.

Here's another video I took that shows what it sounds like in the cab. It's hard to hear but it's audible around 0:34 when I put the phone near the windshield and in the footwell.

It's been to the dealer twice and of course the service writer and tech could not hear it. Mine has to be hot and driven at least 30 miles then it gets pretty loud. I'm just going to have to pick a day and then make a run in sport mode and get it to knock. Then straight to the dealer.

Once it's up to normal operating temp (even now with single digit and below temps) I can replicate it with a slight brake torque (about 800-900 RPM) almost every single time (which coincides with bearing failures). Another way to know for sure without disabling and stething the block is to put it into manual mode and slowly accelerate up to about 3000 RPM in first, second, and third...you'll hear a very distinct knock between 1500-2500 RPM. I did both and that's what got my dealership to pull the plugs, filter, and pan to get Ford to approve the remainder of teardown and replacement.

The video I just put up is actually the sound the new engine makes...which is identical to the previous one. It also makes the distinct knock between 1500-2500 RPM, it's just not as loud as the other one yet. This new engine has only 300 miles on it.

Sounds like my truck also. I had them check the knocking sound during my recent service visit for the moon roof repair. Diagnosed as normal operation. My truck is noticeably worse when cold starting, but I occasionally hearing it when sitting at a stoplight or drive thru.. The noise has increased with mileage.
