Have you priced the seats? The FX4 from a 2012 I have cost $400 and I had to pick it up. Check ebay prices, they are anywhere from $800 for a single seat to $8000 for the fronts, rear and console.

I bought a KR due to the fact that once you added in all the options i wanted on a Lariat, It was actually cheaper to get the KR and have a few more options, and the seats are more comfortable with the 3 lumbar levels.

And the Platinum really has a good price point if you are looking for a well optioned truck as some of the items optional on KR are standard on Platinum (or at least included in the 701A package). Optioning up a less expensive truck is the most expensive way to get a well optioned truck.

(The Platinum's leather is really soft, too)

This is what I plan for my replacement, either a KR or a Plat. I drove a KR for a few minutes and really liked the seat, but haven't sat in a Plat yet since, well, they are a rare find up around by me in Farm country.

The leather in the Plat is softer than the KR, but after going between them a few times, you dont notice it on the butt. I debated between the 2 and glad I ended up with the KR. Love it more and more each day.

I was fortunate enough to order my truck, and was able to get whatever trim level and features I wanted. There were a few things about the KR that I favored: interior/ seats, color combo and wheels. 2 1/2 yrs later and no regrets!

Still FAR less to buy seats than to pay for a KR. If the seats you're replacing are the lower pleather seats, you could even sell those afterwards and make the upgrade even cheaper.

Last night I found several KR that are selling for less than my 502a Lariat. Quite a few are $10,500 off MSRP.

King Ranches are just awesome, plain and simple.

It's really a matter of taste for the most part. Given the two choices of Platinum or KR with money being no object, I'd still pick the Platinum. None of the KR things appeal to me. Two-toned paint, poo brown leather, wood trim... Nope.
