I lost the white paper ish that separates both batteries. Installed new batteries twice with paper and then with plastic. First set lasted maybe a month second about a week. I know it could be the batteries themself, any thoughts?

Might help if you told us what you're driving and what kind of fob you have. None of the fobs I've ever had with 2 batteries had a piece of paper inside... the batteries were stacked with nothing between. Current keyless start fob has just one battery in it.

My keyless start FOB has 2 batteries stacked, with a paper insulator between them. Truck is a 2015 Platinum

All the paper does is tell you how to properly stack the batteries. It is your batteries that are the problem. The batteries are stacked with the + sides together and they are electrically connected to each other by the battery side terminals.

My 2016 Lariat fob has 2 batteries and uses CR2025.

They 2-way communicate with the truck. For fun, get a faraday box and put the keys in it while at home and see if your battery life is extended.
