Default Katzkins installed! But was it worth it?

So last week I had Katzkins installed in my 302A XLT. Truck is just about to hit 50k miles. The cloth seats were still perfect. No signs of wear, no fading, no stains, and were very comfortable! They were perfect, but I always had this feeling that I "needed" or really wanted leather seats. Call it a status symbol I guess. I finally ended up pulling the trigger, and honestly, I'm not any happier. Don't get me wrong, the looks, feel, and quality of Katzkins is awesome! I just didn't have any issues with my cloth seats. If I can go back in time, I would just leave the cloth alone. They do look nice though! Before and after...

The seats look really nice. I have an XLT with cloth like you and I've been contemplating doing the leather upgrade as well. After seeing your post though, I think I would only do this upgrade if I decided to add the heated/cooled seat option. Did you look into that? I wonder what it costs. I have driver side power seat but my passenger side has no power.

I initially wanted to do a Katzkins set IF I had gotten the basic XLT with the grey(?) cloth, ended up in a sport with the black cloth and honestly, don’t even mind them.

Mind sharing pricing? Installed yourself? Shop? Have thrown the idea around as well but like you, am hesitant i wouldn't see the value in my otherwise clean and comfy cloth seats.

You must not have kids that play baseball, football, softball or track, go fishing/hunting or have dogs. Leather is a must for my lifestyle. Cleans up so quick and easy.

My truck is a 302A, so I already had heated seats from the factory. I would love cooled seats, but I didn't look into. The Katzkins were already a good chunk of change, I didn't feel like spending even more haha.

With a Lariat leather is obviously standard but with 2 dogs it's a must have for clean up. I had cloth seats in my 06 and it was a constant horror show with dog hair sticking to the cloth seats! I say you're truck looks great and long term I think you'll really enjoy the leather....

How’s the durability of the OEM leather? It left a lot or be desired in the Mustang, with the little rivets on jeans being able to puncture a hole in them.

Sure! Sorry, I was trying to keep the story to a minimum haha... I looked it up and had no desire to try and install these myself. I ended up paying $1,500 through Five Star Ford in Lewisville, TX. I only went this route because they were 10 minutes from my work, and they give you a loaner for however long it takes. I pretty much paid for the convenience. I could have got the skins on eBay for $575 and upholstery shops were $500-$700 for install. They were all just way out of the way.

If you like clean and comfortable cloth seats, keep rocking those.

Nope, no kids or pets. Although I will be getting a dog or 2 when I get a house.

Yeah no dogs as of right now, but I will eventually. I'm enjoying the leather, they just weren't necessary for my lifestyle.

People tend to rag on OEM leather, but I don't think it's that bad. Though I only know one person with a Lariat (just bought it with 30k miles and they look fine). 2 friends dads have King Ranches, but they're brand new so too soon to tell.
