Just Thinking, Is a Spray In Really Necessary?

I have both, came with a spray in and put a mat on top.

I keep going in circles on this. On my old truck, I had a drop in liner. I use my truck for hauling wood as I have 45 acres I use as a wood lot. While slippery, the drop in liner worked well for wood. On thee new truck, I bought a mat just to have something while I decide. I haven't used the new truck for hauling yet, but need to figure this out soon. If I just use the mat, I know the sides and tail will eventually get marked up, but perhaps who cares. Maybe the answer is the spray in liner plus a mat to make it a bit easier on the knees?

There are different ends of the spectrum on this topic.
- Some guys have a garage queen that will never see any abuse from loads of gravel, pallets slid in from the back, bricks, etc. IMHO the original paint is the best look.
- If this is for a heavy duty work truck, a high quality spray in, is most durable. But I think they are UUUUgleee.
- Middle of the roaders that carry groceries, golf clubs, beer kegs, occasional 2x4s, like a full bedrug (including sides and tailgate).
- Light users who rarely haul stuff unless they help a buddy moving are content with just a mat.
- Drop in liners, have been know to scratch up the bed unseen, and are just plain worthless.

Don't really see why people get the spray in liner for scratch resistance. You are basically destroying the factory finish anyway so whats the point? For a work truck I totally get it but for everything else I don't see the benefit over a mat. More slippery than most mats, less comfortable, often times more oooogly. That being said I'm a middle of the roader with mostly a grocery getter so I like my bedrug

Cause the spray in looks cleaner than a bunch of scratches and gouges in the paint and bed. Cleaner looking AND serves a purpose.
