My 95 150 had a plastic liner. It was hard to keep clean and was rough on the knees. It sucked. My 05 had a Linex spray-in> I had that truck for 10 years and 250K miles and it still looked good when I traded it in for my 15. My 15 I ordered the factory spray-in and I am very I did. A matt may be a good solution for some but it doesn't protect the wheel wells or the bed sides which will get scratched eventually. My .02

It's probably not necessary but I like it better than a drop in liner. I haul stuff that could scratch the paint in the bed or I would be happy with just a bed mat. I'm not sure anything would really protect from dents though

I'm a spray liner guy. Best blend of form and function in one package IMO.

I was a spray in guy, loved all previous ones. Picked up my 16 and this time I just went with a mat the cool ones that say F-150 on them. I also did the weathertech tailgate liner. Honestly I am sold. As stated scratches in the bed don't decrease the value and now that its aluminum I'm no longer worried about rust.

Money saved almost paid for the tonneu cover.

I plan on getting a linex when my truck gets in. They are tough as can be. My problem with. Factory spray in is that they spray EVERYTHING. Making it impossible to work
On anything. These trucks have too many items that would require holes in a drop in ( boxlink x4 led lights and button....) that make me worry if I ever get s load of dirt or gravel that it will just get behind the cover.

Exactly what I have. I had it 3 trucks now and it's great. The mat is some kind of rubber where nothing slips around. It's great.

On other trucks I've had the usual Ford plastic liner and Line-X spray-in liner, not the rubber mat. For how I use the truck now, I need a liner that will keep stuff still when I want it to stay still. A plastic liner won't do that. However, I want to be able to slide something heavy when I want it to slide - I don't think a rubber mat will do that well.

This truck with have Line-X. Another advantage of Line-X over the plastic drop in is a smidge more vertical space - which can make a difference with gas cans and a cooler with a cover.

I've done all 3 options through my many years of trucks, from nothing to drop in to spray in. My personal choice spray in, hands down. I don't do a lot of heavy haulin but without anything gets scratched and banged up pretty good, made the mistake on a drop in and decided to take it out to wash out the bed of any grit and noticed that it basically rubbed every stitch of paint out of the bed, I'd pull out liner every year after to wash out bed and repaint bed. Spray in helped in my stressing over this no scratches no dings IMO perfect bed protection.
