Feels great to finally have a new car!
I assisted morello (previous post) with his hunt by reviewing the deals he was being presented. For a while, he was getting poor quotes and making no headway with a couple of SC/GA Dealiars. morello exercised PATIENCE and looked outside the box by expanding his search further into GA where he found 2 higher volume Dealiars that far exceeded the others with 2 & 3% higher quotes right out of the gate. morello was able to tweak them a bit more and got the Spray-in Liner with a Hail Mary at the end. As you can see, he knocked this one out of the park with a really good deal!

Congrats on your new truck! You worked it like a true savvy Buyer!

Congrats, that's a great deal and a lot of new Magma truck for only $33K. Patience and Persistence pays.
But how did you get away without paying tax? I'm jealous.

South Carolina charges a $500 infrastructure maintenance fee instead of sales tax on new vehicles.

And public thank you to this thread and top for all the help!

Looks like they added $429 for the bedliner not subtracted. Am I missing something?

They also added 429 to the previous "dealer discount" number they subtract from the final price to cancel it out.

Yes, Dealiars always have to do it that way for accounting purposes. You would've had to have seen the actual deal before the negotiation for the free Liner in order for it to make sense to you.

Default need help

This is my first time buying a new car and I would appreciate any help from my fellow shoppers. I am in Albuquerque NM.
I am looking for 2018 XLT 3.5L ECOBOOST with 6.5' bed and 302A package . The best price I can get is $46,122 +Tax from a dealer 700 miles away or 45438 from the local dealer. I am looking for MSRP of around $52K. It seems I am getting dealer discount of $4k and $4750 in rebates. What do I do wrong? Is there a way to bring the price down to $42K or below?

I would consider a used 2018 with the same specs and under 15,000 miles for under $34,000, but none are available with 302A XLT group.

I feel your pain... I’m working on a XLT as well. Can’t seem to break the 7% Dealer Discount Mark. I’m checking New England, NY, NJ PA etc.

Your quoted rebates don't show the $500 Ford Credit Financing. If you told them you don't want to go with that and let's say you told them you were using your own lender then they don't discount the trucks as much because they don't get a chance to make extra kickback money from Ford Credit.

In you local Dealiars quote there's a $399 Transfer Service Charge Fee which sounds like it's coming from another Dealiar's Inventory. At this time of the year, Dealiars aren't typically going to do a two-way swap with older Inventory. If that's the case then the local Dealiar isn't getting the benefit of having the Holdback on that truck. That would stay with the originating Dealiar. Right now you're at 7.11% but you don't have the Doc Fee which will bring it down. You should be searching to find that truck. Usually, they won't go out further than a 300 mile radius.

The 2nd truck is 700 miles away and I'm assuming that's from a Dealiar who has it 'In Stock'. They're only giving you a 6% Dealiar Discount and that's not including a Doc/Processing fee which could make that discount even lower if it's a high fee.

PM me your email address if you need better assistance with this since it's your 1st purchase. I can review your negotiations to see if they try pulling a slick stuff on you or other options you might have.

Thanks for explaining this to me. Dealer is charging "$399 Transfer Service Charge Fee " for a truck on their lot. I didn't know anything about it.This is why i hate car dealers.
