Hey Sundevil98, I have a method of how to powerplay a Dealer that may be difficult to deal with. I can give you details on how to work them. I believe I sent you a spreadsheet via email so make contact with me through reply or send me a PM with your email and we can talk how to get this going even without them having the truck on the lot yet.
Will do!

I just fired off an email to the dealer with the window etching and other BS fees.... He's sitting on $800 with that stuff. I told him, nicely, that if we can move past those items, he has a deal. That puts things back at 12.25% - which is good enough for me - especially considering that he's been easy to work with thus far.

If he'll drop the BS stuff - we've got a deal... If not... I'll drop you a line to get your advice on some of these other hardened dealers.

Thanks so far for all your help. I feel like I'm 90% to my deal right now.

Thanks and will hope to join the Ford Forum Fun.
Trucks in Dallas don't get salt - they get hail dents.... That's what you need to keep an eye out for.

Yes you always apply any Incentives by YOUR Zip Code.

I'm not familiar whether the $750 Performance Partner's is integrated with X-Plan or can it be used independently like a Private Cash or Auto Show offer. You'd have to check with someone at Roush to find out how it's setup. If you find out that the $750 is linked to using only with the X-Plan it would only make your deal come in at around 8.5% TDD (True Dealer Discount) percentage.

And to answer your next question.. yes.. I have access to pull Invoices and Vincents.. no, I don't have time to pull them all day everyday since I do have work and a family.. I have no problem trying to help when I can though.. A PM with a FULL Vin will get you an invoice as I can

KyleB, did I miss it or did you post your deal paperwork that showed what you actually paid? Thanks

Greetings,

I finalized my deal today on my new 2018 F150 XLT SCREW and wanted to share my experience and details with the forum. First, I started down this road in early February by lurking on the forum trying to learn as much as possible. I followed the recommendations by starting at page 300. Admittedly, I was a bit lazy at first. Read the first 20 pages or so and then skimmed through to the end. Big mistake. After starting to ask questions on the forum and via PM to Top, I quickly realized that I need to start over and read through all pages. This made a huge difference and I was able to fine tune my expectations, plan, and approach before starting my process in earnest.

I have been PM'ing with Top throughout my adventure and he's been just amazing. My sincere thanks to him and the rest of the posters on this forum. You saved me thousands. I'm moving forward with this deal knowing that I couldn't do any better at this point in time.

My Deal:
  1. Window Sticker: http://www.windowsticker.forddirect....EW1EP3JKD56075
  2. Zip: 55901 (MN)
  3. The numbers from my PNA spreadsheet:
    • MSRP (Blue Box): $52,280
    • Agreed to Price Quote: $46,587
    • Net Dealer Discount: $5593
    • True Dealer Discount Percentage: 10.99%
    • Total Rebates/Incentives: $5050
    • Dealer Doc Fee: $100
    • Total Sales/Cash Price: $41,637
    • Additional fees:
      • Sales Tax Amount (6.5%): $2,706
      • Total Misc charges & fees (tile, license, etc.): $570
    • Total w/ additional fees: $44,913
    • Total w/ Fees: $44,738
More Info and Tidbits:
  1. I am located in Rochester, MN
  2. I researched the F150 on Ford.com and nailed down my desired config with the list of required options
  3. Test drove a few different F150 XLT's (e.g. both 3.5L and 2.7L) at a dealer that knew I wouldn't be working with as recommended in the forum
  4. Searched online for dealers that had trucks meeting my configuration. Searched all of MN and the surrounding states
  5. Sent request for quotes to the dealers identified in #3 and also sent requests to many other dealers. Worked with over 12 dealers total through the quoting process and used a specific email template requesting quotes in a specific format to allow for easy/quick comparison
  6. Iterated the quoting process. After receiving the initial quotes from each dealer, I waited for each to contact me to follow up on their quote. I then responded with a request for them to improve their quote
  7. Most of the dealers I worked with did not have a truck on their lot that met my minimum configuration. All were still willing to provide a quote for a truck on a different dealer lot (e.g. dealer trade situation)
  8. Over a week ago, my local dealership (Rochester Ford) provided a quote for 12.25% TDD. I followed up requesting they provide a formal Dealer Quote Sheet. They responded with the requested sheet but changed their numbers resulting in a 7.24% TDD. Several email exchanges resulted and I was unsuccessful in getting them to honor their original quote. About a day later the truck disappeared from their Web site and I learned they sold the truck to someone else. Explains the bait and switch regarding their quote. Net, net...don't settle for an email quote. Always have them provide the formal Dealer Quote Sheet and check the numbers
  9. I included Jeff Belzer Ford in my quoting process. They were great to work with but were unwilling to match/beat my best quote. This is understandable as they didn't have truck with my min config; yet, were still willing to try and work a dealer trade. Their 9.x% TDD was comparable with several other Minneapolis area dealers. I'm confident they would have provided a better quote had the truck been on their lot
  10. Did my deal with Inver Grove Ford in MN. Ben Saxon has been amazing through the whole process. He's a straight shooter with great ethics and no gamesmanship whatsoever. His initial quote was competitive. He did not have my config on his lot but worked a dealer trade and got it. Very happy with my TDD considering it is a dealer trade. I'd recommend Ben to anyone else looking at a Ford

Parting Thoughts:
  1. Reiterating the mantra from the forum: Read all posts starting with page 300
  2. See #1
  3. Listen to the veterans on the forum. They're taking time out of their busy days to help us. Thank those form the forum that provide help
  4. Use email for all requests for quotes and for all communication with the dealers
  5. Once you have a leading quote, request formal dealer quote sheet that includes the VIN number. Triple check the numbers
  6. If something blows up with a particular dealer, get over it and move on
  7. Top is a steely eyed missle-man. His mentoring was instrumental in my adventure and my outcome would be very different without all of his help
  8. Accessories: I learned about Luke at Truck Alterations (luke@truckalterations.com) via another thread on this forum. His quotes on my accessories far exceed others I've found. Just send him an email with 1) Year/Make/Model/Trim/Bed for your truck 2) List of accessories you're looking for 3) Zip code. He responds quickly and in my case his prices can't be beat
I'm sure Top will chime in on my post and fill in some of the gaps. But, in closing, my sincere thanks to all of you for your help. You are all truly amazing and I'm very appreciative for your help.

This was an interesting ride along with a fellow forum member and soon to be F150 Owner through your ups & downs, but you had the right attitude & PATIENCE! You READ the thread which set the foundation for the excellent strategy implemented to build up to this very good deal. As you came to a bump in the road where the local Scum (Roach-shyster Ford aka Rochester) backpedaled substantially on his informal bait & switch quote, then sold the truck out from under you, so you just moved on and didn't look back. You immediately advanced without skipping a beat because of having backup Dealer quotes established. Inver Grove to lead to search far & wide, sticking with you all the way, and trumped the other quotes by 1.8% to boot. They had originally beat Roach-shyster having the truck desired 'In Stock' by 3.4% even though Inver Grove would have to trade that scamming Dealer for it. We will surely remember them on here for doing one of the forum members good.

The one Con that rubbed us the wrong way and should also be reflected in all honesty about Inver Grove, is their Website Ad being misleading. They would not honor the advertised rebate for this deal because they claimed it does not apply to the F150 even though the image includes the F150. The response was that this rebate was only specific to the Focus & Explorer which I verified when searching the web listings for both of these vehicles. I guess they get a mulligan on this one. Again, don't believe what you see on Dealers websites.

Thanks Top. Also, that same banner in various forms appeared on multiple MN dealer Web sites. I followed up anonymously via chat with over a dozen of them and your millage definitely varies with the Auto Show Bonus. Some stated it didn't apply to the F150, some claimed to know nothing about it at all, etc. The kick in the pants with Inver Grove is that I tried repeatedly to get them to honor it before this specific banner appeared on their Web site. Yesterday, after closing agreement on my deal, I received that specific banner via an email from them...talk about a kick in the pants. However, as Top states, I'll give them a pass on it as nearly all of the MN dealers are in the same boat on this.

F150 Build. Ok, made a good deal on a 2018 build. Two weeks later this is the status from the dealer's fleet manager: "… the order has not yet been submitted to the plant yet, it is listed as a priority 10 which is the highest priority. So it should be getting sent to the plant soon." What does this mean?
