DISCOUNT JEDI MASTER
I picked up a truck this morning.
http://www.windowsticker.forddirect....N1DmoFMvSnU%3D
MSRP= 52,580
sales price= 47,000
and this is where I screwed up.
On their sheet they showed savings of 5580 and that put me at almost 11% off a dealer retail of 51,285. But in my surprise to see such a good offer when I was getting nothing but 4 and 5% offers I jumped the gun, blew my wad, crapped the bed, whatever saying you want to use, I did. and told them I'd make the deal.
The next day I went over my numbers again because another dealer had gotten me a quote and refigured this one and discovered I was not at almost 11% I wasn't even at an even 8% when I accounted for a 277 dollar doc fee. They weren't giving any more and i either had to walk or take it. I was running out of inventory around me and had seen 3 go pretty much exactly like it in the previous 2-3 days.
So I picked it up today. Disappointed I didn't get a double digit discount, but really freaking happy with this truck I need to get sent back to remedial math, but here's all my numbers in one place without all the drivel mucking it up.
MSRP=52,580 Dealer retail 51,285
Sale price= 47,000 (dealer math 5,580 discount) actual discount 4,285 for an 8.1% dealer discount. Figure in 277 doc fee and it was 7.6%
In WI TTL and fees put me at 49,815.87 and then subtract 6,000 in rebates with Ford Credit the final tally was 43,815.87
I got the truck I wanted and am generally happy with the price, just disappointed in myself. Take your time, do the math, don't be surprised like me I'm not sure I would have done much better around here anyway, but it was kind of fun trying.

So wiread, I just hopped in to read your post and remember you telling me that you screwed up. I checked your numbers over and I'm going to make your day because you didn't screw up. I'll do the long math so you can see what the Dealer Invoice and Holdback comes to and what you paid right after that.
$52,580 Total MSRP (On 'Window Sticker' - Blue box in lower right corner)
$-1,295 Destination & Delivery
$51,285 Dealer Retail Price (Suggested Retail on Dealer Invoice sheet)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
$51,285 Dealer Retail Price (Suggested Retail on Dealer Invoice sheet)
x .072 Dealer Markup percentage
$ 3,693 Dealer's Markup (Vehicle + options/factory discounts profit margin)
$51,285 Dealer Retail Price
x .03 Holdback percentage calculation
$ 1,539 Dealer Holdback
$ 3,693 Dealer's Markup (Vehicle + options/factory discounts profit margin)
$ 1,539 Dealer Holdback
$5,232 Dealer break even price (10.2%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now this what you got
$52,580 Total MSRP
$47,000 Sales Price
$5,580 Dealer discount
$5,580 (Dealer discount) / $51,285 (Dealer Retail Price)=.1088 or 10.9%
$5,580 Dealer discount
$-277 Doc Fee
$5,303 NET Dealer discount
$5,303 (NET Dealer discount) / $51,285 (Dealer Retail Price)=.1034 or 10.3%
You second guessed your math and that's what made you screw up. So, now you can pop open a bottle of wine and celebrate. You worked REAL hard to get that kind of deal in WI. That's really the best you can do in that area because another member just below you in IL ran into a dead end at about the same discount percentage. Congrats and now you can enjoy that beautiful F-150 XLT even more!

I was at a dealer to test drive. I was told that 2017 King Ranch is not available for sale due to recall? any thought. Is it a dealer BS? I tested a Lariat and left. I have not had a chance to call another dealer.

It's legitimate. As mentioned above, there is a recall on the rear inflatable seat belts available on higher end trims.

I just got off the phone with a member (supaflyz) who I've been helping to search for a nice discount on a truck in Houston the past couple of days. He finally found one this afternoon and it's a beauty. He got a 12% Dealer discount on an XLT which he's going to pickup first thing on Monday. Congrats to another forum member.

Went for a ride with the pano open and wife and kids enjoyed the stars. Loved every minute of it!

Hi Guys! First, thank you to all for an awesome thread - I read through hundreds of posts before buying... again, very helpful!
I picked up my F150 Lariat last Sunday. Below is my deal.
YOUR Zip Code 20175 - Northern Virginia
Did you go into the Dealer and deal directly with a Salesperson yet? Yes
Are you planning to use the Ford Conditional Offer - $1,250 Ford Credit Customer Cash if available to you? Yes I did.
Are you planning to trade-in? No, the low balled my Tahoe, so sold it at CarMax
Do you qualify for any additional incentives like Military, First Responder, College Graduate or Grad Student, etc.,? No
Doc/Processing Fee - Dealer charge (You need to find this out and provide it one way or another) $599
Have you looked at other Dealer inventories so don't have to count on one Dealers quote? Yes
Would consider a travel to get a better deal? As mentioned, already bought.
$52,580 = MSRP
$44,086 = Out the door Price
Here's the breakdown...
$45,242 = Cash Price
$ 1,295 = Destination
$ 599 = Koons Processing Fee
$- 3,050 = Rebates
$44,086 = Out the Door
I think I did pretty good. Either way, I LOVE my new truck!

Yeah, I thought that might be the case, but I wasn't sure. Has anyone cracked the code to determine what the A plan equivalent discount is? I agree that the 10% to 13.5% range dealer discount (outside of incentives/rebates) makes sense to shoot for, with the upper end of those discounts given in places like truck friendly Texas, where tons of truck volume (new sales) occurs.
Where does the A plan fall in that 10 to 13.5% range? Has anyone been able to determine it? I haven't been able to figure it out even though I am pretty good at internet scouring.

I agree that this Ford Special A-Plan type price for hurricane victims is a good price for those who don't want to negotiate. Dealers love selling a Plan. However, TX is known for great deals and you can do much better haggling where they give between 12.5-13.5% Dealer discounts.

Was the 10% with the hurricane A Plan or what you negotiated?
The only one I've looked at was a 2018 Platinum and it was right at 10%. I don't know if it varies by vehicle or what the current 2018 Platinum discount runs in Houston right now without it. My truck shopping has been put on the back burner while I deal with house repairs. I realized that I don't have the patience to haggle right now and it can just wait until I do.
