What are your thoughts? What should I be aiming for in terms of Dealer pricing before rebates?

I'm buying an F150 this year and was planning on waiting until the fall to get a 2017 when the 2018s come out and dealers are trying to clear out the old ones.

My build is really simple:
XLT
2.7 ecoboost
4x4
Supercrew
Short box
302a Pack
Sport Appearance Pack
Moonroof

Building it online comes to $45k with the current employee pricing. Take off $1k for Costco member and maybe another $1-2k with haggling and I think I could get it for $42k - $43k + tax

This is all in Canadian dollars btw.

Basically I'm wondering if waiting for the year end will get me a better deal because this seems pretty damn good. Anyone have any insight / experience here?

Thanks!

Thanks for the Info you provided!

Don't compromise on a new truck without NAV these days as you show with Option #2. With the Option Sticker price of the NAV at $895 - $500 Ford Discount on Sticker you net at $395. That's too good of a bargain to bypass. Therefore, cross out Option #2.

Let's talk Option #1. I'm going to give you numbers that are less than the others because I already shopped trucks in PA NJ & NY. These 3 states just don't want to budge much past Invoice (7.2%). You may find that as well, although it may have been the timing since I was negotiating at the end of May and 1st week of June. Now that crunch time is setting in, they may be bending some more, plus the fact that you can work them with month end coming up soon.

So, your Option #1 offer is insulting but I guess they think you're a sucker and testing you out with a meager $50,570 - $47,806 = $2,764 (5.5%) Dealer discount. Let's do your Target price math at an 11.5% Dealer discount.

$51,865 Window Sticker Total MSRP
$-1,295 Destination & Delivery
$50,570 Dealer Retail (vehicle + options/Ford discounts)

$50,570 X .115% = $5,815 Dealer discount

$51,865 Total MSRP
$5,815 Dealer discount at 11.5%
$46,050 Target 'Selling Price' BEFORE Ford Incentives and TTL & Doc fees

I have found Doc Fees amongst PA Dealers to be within reason at around $150 so they're pretty insignificant to nickel & dime with.

The above is an 11.5% discount which is below Dealer Cost and the Holdback total (.072+.03=10.2%). Always get a written emailed price quote and mention you promise not to share with other Dealers - which I never do. This is an opportune way to tell them you have a better price you've been quoted but you can't share it with them because of your promise not to do so. Also, let them know you are shopping other trucks at various Dealers so they know you're not locked in to this truck.

Let's calculate here what a Dealer should be able to do at Invoice plus Holdback

$51,865 - $1,295 = $50,570 x .072% = $3,641 Dealer markup
$51,865 X .03% = $1,556 Holdback
$3,641 + $1,556 = $5,197 Dealer net markup (known costs)
$51,865 - $5,197 = $46,668 What a Dealer should be able to offer (10.2%)

Now let's see what 11.5% and incentives would bring you down to.

$46,050 Target 'Selling Price' from above
$-2,250 Retail Customer Cash
$ -250 Retail Bonus Customer Cash
$1,500 Bonus Customer Cash
$-1,250 Ford Credit Retail Bonus Customer Cash
$ -750 Ford Private Cash offer
$40,050 'Selling Price AFTER Ford Incentive, Credit & Private Offers EXCLUDING TTL & Doc Fees

Awesome that you have Ford Private Cash offer in hand. What's your expiration on that?

The one other nice thing about this truck is that it was manufactured on 2/23/17 so it's $405 less than trucks built after the price increase on 4/1/17. That's almost like a built in savings there. On the flip side though, the Dealer has now incurred interest payments on it because it's after the 3 month interest free inventory grace period they get from Ford. So, this could thwart a better discount and negate the pre-increase savings.

Also, do you really need the 3.5L or can you consider a 2.7L because I have a quote on a very similar truck I was shopping back in MAY/JUNE at a Dealer a little northeast of you and the dummies would not go further than an 8.8% Dealer discount but they were actually the best I could even get here in the northeast at that time. I had to go to MD to get a better deal on a truck like you want except I have the 2.7L which is a little monster with *****. The one I'm talking about has nice options and a twin pano roof to boot. If you're interested, I could send you the quote so you can see where to start and maybe they'll be willing to bend more now that they're paying interest every month they hold it in their inventory.

One more consideration if you're set on a 3.5L, Option #2 Dealer has another truck with your specs and some but wheels are 20' Aluminum. The price is a bit higher but they seem to be high volume, having multiple dealerships, so they may bring in a good Dealer discount. One thing that might be trouble is that the 'Window Sticker' shows an NY on top which may have been a swap and therefore that could limit discounting on that particular one. You can feel free to PM me if you want to keep Dealer names and VIN choices off the board for certain reasons. I'll be happy to go over some of the suggestions I talked about.

I'd like to help but I don't know Canadian price structures or Manufacturer to Dealer Incentives business models.

If you wait until year end, 2017 choices may be really limited but then again you said you're keeping it simple so that may be to your advantage. here in the US, January sales are the lowest for Dealers and they bend over easier.

IS THIS A GOOD DEAL?

https://www.irwinzone.com/new-Laconi...EX1EP6HFC74745

2.7 SCAB
XLT 302A
3.73 Gears

34,020 + 499 dealer fees = 34,519 OTD This price includes $1250 ford finance rebate

or

https://www.irwinzone.com/new-Laconi...FX1EG9HFA39129

3.5 SCAB
XLT 302A

35,894 + 499 dealer fees = 36,393 includes 1250 FMC rebate

How much more wiggle room do you guys think there is?

Thanks.

Well just looking at the MSRPs on those links, and assuming those numbers dont include tax and title, I'd say you have another ~1k dollars on both of them. I'd push for at least 500 on either. Maybe try something like 500 and a free spray on liner/bed cover/whatever else you might want.

In NH we don't have sales tax. I have to pay a registration fee when I register the truck. Probably be around $700.

I'd pull the trigger on the 2.7 if I could get them around mid 32k. Might be a stretch though. I liked the color better on the 3.5 eco.

no taxes...

Thats probably a stretch, but you should be able to get in the 33-33.2k range based on my quick math.

Out of curiosity what math is that? Only just so I can help in my argument.

How much cheaper do you think I could get the ecoboost 3.5 truck for?
