A local dealer here does that crap. I called them out on it one day, and they told me that was the way that Ford wanted them to advertise. LIARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are at least three other ford dealers around here and they don't do that crap. Its making you think you're getting a better discount than you are. The discount is already figured into the price of the truck @ MSRP.

Is the dealers starting price $2495 higher than MSRP due to Katzkin leather and ESP, or are they using the 'package discounts' on the sticker price as 'additional discounts'? and padding the sticker price? Also, what is the breakout of their $7650 dealer discount given that it isn't including the rebates? That 7650 number isn't right; if it includes the package discounts from the window sticker you need to have them strike it from their sheet as they are trying to confuse you. Dealers love confusion; most want money more than ethics and confusion is one of the best tools they have for that.

To keep your objectivity and negotiating edge, try to find another one similar at a dealer within 90 minutes from you and start emailing th dealer that has the truck on their lot, if you haven't already. You also may want to mention (politely and casually) to this dealer that you just now noticed all the incentives on the Ram trucks! That might get them squirming a little more.

actually FORD seems to have the better incentives.

$4250 is the top incentive I can find on a Ram.

I've seen up to $5250 on a F150.

So, i doubt that strategy will work!

Perhaps it would probably be better to say something like you didnt realize that there was so much selection and such good deals on Rams. The point is for the dealer to realize that they could lose business so they will have another reason to sweeten the deal for you on a Ford.

Some dealers in my area do that as well, and all even do something worse; they show you the MSRP/sticker price which includes freight, and then strikethrough that and list something like "$10,000" discount. Then they tell you that their "internet price" doesn't include freight and must be added back in (along with a myriad of rebates that nobody could ever qualify for at once). When you point out that, hey, that price you listed as MSRP and then took ten thousand dollars off of INCLUDED freight they act like you are crazy and can't perform simple math.

Where do you see that? On Ford's website, it still shows $1250.

Sadly, most dealers are severely lacking in the ethics dept.

Rebates can vary by region/zip code.
