Jumping on the 5100 train

There are just too many great reviews on the Bilstein 5100s to resist upgrading! I placed an order with Stage 3 tonight. I’m sure I can install the rear myself but don’t have the tools or time to tackle the front. The question is where to get it done. Any suggestions for the Dallas / Frisco / Mckinney area?

Eager to to improve the jittery highway axle hop feeling, one of my few complaints about my truck. I will be removing (obviously) the Ready Lift level kit. Look for an ad coming soon or pm me if you’re interested in it.

My only complaint is the boot separating after a year and a bit.

Where is it separating? When I installed mine a also added extra tie wraps to the boots. From the factory they only have one on each end. Still fine after 2 years.

I may be one that doesn't taste a diff in expensive wine but I also can't tell a difference with 5100s on the rear. I haven't towed yet with them on but I still get wheel hopping, maybe not as bad but I was expecting more

im really hoping that based on the dozens of reviews that i've read through that jumping from the stock "FX4" shocks to Bilstein 5160's will reveal a better ride. I know where many rough areas and road transitions are located in my town and I know how bad my truck rear end hops around. I will put the new dampers to the test and report back!

Please do report back! If the 5100s don't provide the improvements I want my next step will probably be Roadmaster Active Suspension.

5100's won't stop wheelhop. They stop the wheels hitting bumps and not returning to the road quickly enough, causing it to feel unstable around turns if you hit bumps or if you hit a hard bump on the interstate or a road it'll jump to one side or the other It's suspension travel that's being fixed, wheelhop is axle wrap.

Wheelhop can only be resolved with traction bars or RAS or setting up a 4 link lol.

The wheel hop was one issue I thought to be fixed but I really don't notice a diff overall. It may be my 10 ply tires though that make the bad diff LoL.

I didn't get a chance with the 5100s on p rated so it may have been diff but at the same time, I only have them on the rear right now for towing improvement.

Got my 5100s super quick from Stage 3. I installed the rears today with minor difficulty because of the wheel liners.

I wouldn’t say the ride is significantly improved but is does feel more planted, with less axle hop. They definitely are an improvement just don’t expect a dramatic difference in everyday typical driving.
