Default Mine's catching plenty from the 5.0.

This is after 6k of mostly highway miles. 21k on the truck. Seems very excessive to me.

Filled to the bottom of the threads after 6,000 miles.

Second pour. Total about 65 milliliters

About 10 milliliters of sludge at bottom

It's the same principle as the old mesh inserts in the filter on old engines. Coalesces the vapor to liquid to keep oil out of the intake.....although I never cleaned mine. Lol.

It does nothing to help the engine or gain performance or anything.

Except keep excess oil vapor out of the intake and off the valves....if it's plumbed right. There have been people that have tested these on their trucks. Different climates, different engines, and varying results of reclaimed fluid. Some people like the thought that they're able to catch fluid that would be going to their intake and building up on everything.

Yes there are knockoffs. Some are well designed to coalesce the vapors. Long term effects? I have no idea, I don't have one on my truck. I also got tired of people arguing back and forth. Everybody can make their own choice.

They are made for race engines. High rpm. High octane and don't want it diluted. Anything you find in the catch can would have just been burned in the cylinders and not hurt anything. If they were anything useful on a daily driver, Ford and all the other manufacturers would install them at the factories.

I bought the JLT 3.0 myself. Don’t want to risk any lowered octane when I’m tuned for 93 at 13psi.
I’ve only ran them on blown motors...NA I just leave alone.

And this right here is where a lot of the debate is. The main reason big companies don't use them is they can't charge to service them. If all you have to do is drain it, then why would they offer it in vehicles?

The simplest thing I can say is, if you believe it's snake oil then don't get one. If you like the idea of keeping unwanted contaminates out of the air/fuel mixture throughout the cycle, then I say do your research and get what you want.
