Since you are in it this deep I would do the passenger side actuator now. If it is loosing vacuum it can cause the driver side to loose vacuum. It is an easy job and will eliminate another part of the system.

Greetings! I recently had a 2” level kit removed from my truck to bring it back to stock height. The next day I noticed an intermittent flapping sound coming from the drivers side front hub under light acceleration. It happens occasionally but when I put it into 4A the noise stops. I thought it might be a check valve so ordered the yg360 off Amazon. It’ll be here in a few days. I decided to look under the truck to check to see if the vacuum lines were ruptured but they looked fine. Unfortunately I noticed what looks like a blown seal where the drivers side axle meets the transfer case? I think that’s what it is? The passenger side looks fine. Would a ruptured seal cause the fluttering sound I hear? Any advice would be appreciated. I honestly don’t know if the seal is blown or if this is random oil spilled from an oil change.

Okay so my problem was solved by installing two new OEM IWE's. The groaning/growling noise is completely gone! I satisfied with everything now. Just FYI

Glad to hear. I felt pretty strongly the IWE's were the problem. Mine still is quiet since the replacement.

It's been 5 months since replacing the vacuum reservoir and check valve and the grinding is back. It's worse than ever and arrived with the warm weather (outside has finally warmed up to 1°C) which makes me wonder if there is condensation in the lines.

Pretty sure my front left IWE clutch ring is on its way out. Could have been two separate problems though -- check valve first in the fall, then the IWE finally letting go now.

The truck is going in the shop next week under warranty repair. I'll post what the problem and fix is as I learn more.

I still love driving my truck and wouldn't want to be in anything else, but I wish that all of Ford's future IWE's were electrical-mechanical like the rear locker and not dependant on pulsed vacuum supplied through skinny hoses which fail so easily in multiple ways.

Which brings me to my question of the day, do after market non-vacuum-actuated IWE's exist?

I've read in this forum somewhere that there is a non vacuum fix. I seem to remember it relating to using comparable parts from the Expedition. Something about advance trac full time 4wd. I'd be afraid of the adverse effects on fuel mileage.

Yes, please keep us in the know.
As far as any non-vacuum IWEs, myself, I don't know of any. I think if there were, a rich man would own that company.
There is an item, by RCV, I think it is, that replaces the moving parts in the IWE, with something similar to a sleeve over the teeth, that stays engaged permanently.

Default Same Problem Here

Back in October I bought a used 2017 F150. Currently I've got 47k miles on it. I'm experiencing a groaning noise (almost like driving on a rumble strip) as I decelerate below 15MPH. Intermittently I'll hear a short grinding noise during acceleration. After diagnosing the problem, I've replaced both the solenoid and check valve (in that order, a couple days apart). After each one, I don't experience any issues for the first day or so, but then the same problem creeps back up.

Having said that, I've got a couple of questions:
1. What should be my next course of action?
2. Is this covered under powertrain? Obviously if possible I'd like to avoid paying a dealer big bucks to fix something I could easily do myself.

Thanks!
