Question intermittent problem with console power point

I have a 2017 XLT 302A with the 8" display. I have been playing with Android Auto some, specifically, Google Maps and Audible. Sometimes when I plug the phone in to the USB port in the console, it works flawlessly. Other times it not only doesn't connect Android Auto, it won't even charge the phone. When that happens, if I plug the phone in to the rear seat USB port on the back of the console, the phone will at least charge so it can't be the cable or the phone's connector. It still won't connect Android Auto. Then, the next time, it may work flawlessly again. Is anyone else having intermittent problems? Does anyone know why it will connect sometimes and not others?

What kind of phone do you have? I know on my Galaxy S6, I have to go into my USB options on my phone and enable file transfer after I plug it in to get Android Auto to start up.

I have a Galaxy S5, but most of the time it fires right up. Like I said, it is intermittent. What has me convinced that it is the power point is that the phone won't even charge when this happens.

I have notice this too, with my Note 4. I think there's a software bug, either with the Sync 3, or with the AA. Sometimes you have to reconnect it multiple times to get it to work. Sometimes it doesn't popup automatically, and you have to manually press the AA button that appears after you connect.

When this happens, my AA button does not appear. It is exactly like I had not even plugged the phone in. Like I said, the phone doesn't even start charging.

I've seen this happen too, and usually it will work in a couple of reconnections.
Hopefully this is a software bug, and they can fix it on an update.

I totally forgot about this. I have a 2017 302A that I thought had the same problem initially. I had at first been plugging into the lower USB port (I have the sport so I have the middle console). I would plug it in, and sometimes it would work, sometimes not, after 3-4 tries it eventually would.

I then decided to try the upper USB port, and poof, problem solved. It fires up every time the first time now! Try that and see if it works.

FYI I have a Note 4 (Verizon)

Alas, every time it does this, I alternate those two ports. No difference.

I have the same issue with iPhone 7. I modified some settings in Forscan for my brake controller and heated seats, and hoping I didn't' inadvertently change something for those USB ports. I haven't found mine to work at any time.
