Pic related, to those who got to get inside and touch, are the panels around the vents as such metal or just painted aluminum plastic?

GreenScrew 09-05-2014 06:48 PM

Very little doubt these are plastic, if for no other reason cost and no value in them being metal.

Looking at the pic I love the look but just realized no ledge above the traction ctrl/4-way flasher/air bag override and no cubby under the 4wd switch. I'm going to miss those!

Me too! I put my phone in the cubby under the 4wd switch.

The cubby will be there if you don't get the trailer brake control.

Rumble_b 09-05-2014 09:45 PM

That may be true, but it looks a lot lower than it is now. Not a good spot.

Ok I'm just being picky for fun. It really wouldn't matter to me if I was to get a 15. I can find a new spot for my phone. I got time, plan on getting a 16.

GriffFX4 09-05-2014 09:51 PM

Is it me or do the window controls look like a long reach?

Hm, I remember reading somewhere that they were metal

"In King Ranch and Platinum versions, high-quality leather seats, real stitched dashboards, genuine wood and real metal trim create a truly upscale environment. "

Perhaps 'metallic' but not metal. The last two F150s I've owned didn't have any metal parts in the interior (including the door fixtures and exterior grill) except the shifter and brake pedal. Why? Not necessary unless you're a Neanderthal using your vehicle for several decades or more.

I'm curious about that myself. Looks like another 6 weeks before we find out.

Maybe that long indentation in between the shifter and the cupholder can hold a cellphone

Ekusa 09-06-2014 12:04 AM

So once again, to anyone who's acutally touched it, was the website I mentioned correct that it is metal?

steeven1991 09-06-2014 02:17 AM

It states in the order guide that was posted on this forum that the platinum comes with "Aluminum Appliqué on Center Panel and Console" and "Unique Genuine Wood Interior Trim Accents". Also watching the HD videos people have taken does indeed looks like the dash is the same brushed aluminum that's in the current platinum.

Sadly the door handles do look like painted plastic in HD videos vs the dashes brushed aluminium look, ford should have made the platinum interior all aluminum but the fact that the dash is still aluminium is nice and something I don't think the other truck makers do.

The tray on the dash looks deeper though, so it might actually be functional when on bumpy roads now, that's where my cell phone will be, that or plugged into the ac port in the cubby hold underneath the radio that's in front of the shifter!

Mike FX4 09-07-2014 07:16 PM

The tray on top of the new dash is much deeper and larger than the current tray. It is huge when you opt for the lower level stereo w/o the center speaker. Looks like you could probably fit a lunch box up there.

Yes, they are available with metal wrapped plastic just like the high level current generation trucks.

Is this a speaker or 2 lights?

If they aren't lights, then they are probably the motion detector sensors for the alarm system. My '07 Mustang has the same setup and has the sensors there.

I'm wondering the same thing. To me, it also looks like the trailer brake controller is a little to low?

Im pretty sure they are speakers, I read in the order guide there is 10 speakers, so 4 in the doors, 2 in the a pillars, and 4 in the top console thingie.

Johnnymossville 09-09-2014 04:40 PM

Has anyone seen good pictures of the XL and XLT interiors yet? I'm tired of seeing all the higher end models. I want to see what it looks like from the cheap seats.

LCW 09-09-2014 06:06 PM

Would be great to see the XLT interior with column shifter, but 40/console/40 seating option.

countrysquire 09-09-2014 07:43 PM

This isn't much, but it's a picture that Mike Levine posted of the XLT dash the other day.

Curmudgeon 09-09-2014 08:31 PM

That's a mediocre view of the XLT flow-thru console with column shift and small center stack display, but better than most console pics of the 40-40 seating arrangement.

scole 09-10-2014 01:51 AM

Man- that 4.2" radio looks like SOOOO much wasted space in the dash! Tiny screen, oversized buttons, and a whole lot of nothing all over the rest of that bezel.

Johnnymossville 09-10-2014 09:07 AM

Looks incredibly plasticky in that picture. Now I'd like to see the XL interior, it might be a better base to put an aftermarket solution in there.

I really hope that looks better in person.

That's why unless going to the large 8" screen, I liked the screen on my 2011 - up at the top of the center stack, non color, but gives all the info and is at a better viewing angle than the 4.2 screen.

19KFX4 09-14-2014 12:22 AM

my 11 is almost paid off only 2 more years but wife says i have to keep it, would live to get a 16 Raptor or even a Gen1. Heck, my 11 is a Gen1 Ecoboost and i love it

dkj313 10-20-2014 08:11 PM

xlt with navigation and my ford touch do you get the 8" screen in dash and head unit?

dkj313 10-21-2014 07:25 AM

Yea I seen that but I thought the led screen in front of the steering wheel was only for high end models?

looking at the pricing sheet on the XLT with my ford sync you get the 8" center stack with a 4.2" productivity screen

ford web sites says different.. it shows 8" productivity screen now I'm uncertain what's true...

eric5899 12-06-2014 09:38 PM

Just asked that question in a new thread today and got a response. On XLT 302A package, it is a 4.2" screen above the steering wheel and 8" screen center stack. In the online trim comparison sheet it says

2.3" productivity screen standard XL/XLT
4.2" productivity screen optional XL/XLT
8" productivity screen - not available on XL/XLT but standard on Lariat and up

Ekusa 12-07-2014 10:33 PM

This is an odd request but does anyone have any pictures of the interior at night? I still havent had a chance to sit in one and Im wondering how it feels at night.

They are the motion control. When I test drove the guy told me that's what they were for.
