I have had my AUX LED reverse lights triggered off of the trailer harness revers wire for a month now and all is good. Truck does not think a trailer is hooked up. Neighbor has had same lights and set up for over 6 months on his 2017 Raptor and all is good

Short answer NO

I've had a couple of 18 watt LED lights connected to the 7 pin trailer connector on mine since I bought it. It absolutely does not make the truck "think" a trailer is connected when I back up.

Am I reading this correctly that I can tap into the reverse wire for my trailer harness to power my non OEM LED lights to be used for back up lights?
Thanks for your help!!

I pulled temporary power for Rigid SR-Q from 4 way and 7 way reverse wires and received the trailer connection fault in both instances. I was trying to avoid major hassle installing Rigids 'non functional' harness.

Sure you were trying to tap into the right wire since the 4 way doesn't have a reverse wire?

Poorly worded in original post. Here is what I attempted:

Original method:
4 way/7 way: Power from trailer lights (4 way Brown) and relay trigger from the reverse wire (7 way white).
The attempt was to enable the aux. reverse lights when the headlights or parking lights were ON and truck in reverse vice every time I put the truck in reverse.

Alternate method:
7 way: Direct power from the reverse wire

It is possible that the temporary method of wiring is causing the issue because I used a 4 way plug inserted into the existing harness (all wires dead ended) and tapped into the brown pigtail for power. I did that same thing for the 7 way. The temporary wiring did not require any modifications to the existing truck wiring just in case It did not work.

I've hooked up two sets of reverse lights using the back up light wire from the 7 way plug with no adverse effects on anything, old truck was a 2013 and new one is 2016.

Just wanted to add my experience. I bought LED lights off amazon and made my own cord and harness using a 7 pin end. I wanted to avoid pulling too much power from the reverse lead so I hooked the reverse to a relay, and pulled power from the 12V+ pin. It works perfectly and does not show as a trailer connected on either my 13th gen or my father in law's 12th gen.

Exactly. If you look at the 7 pin connector from the back side, you can release it from the bracket and pull it down to where you can tap into the wiring. The center pin is the reverse lead. Be sure to seal and tape the connection up and snap it back into place.

See here for more information.

That's different from my truck - my truck doesn't enable the +12V output unless a trailer is connected. There have been lots of posts here from people complaining about that exact scenario. My truck is 2015. Maybe they changed something in the following years ??
