If the airbag light is on then the entire supplemental restraint system is offline. Not just the seat airbag. If you get into an accident none of the airbags will work. Also the seat is designed to absorb the force of rear end impacts, keep you in position for airbags, and prevent you from submarining under the seat belt.

I definitely would have made some better adapter "brackets". Pretty sure some 3/16s or whatever flatbar isnt exactly strong in that orientation.

Find the wiring diagram for a 2013 seat, repin it to match the new truck wiring so it sees the Airbag

The seat actually plugs in and the power seat works just fine. Only issue is the airbag light came on now. The seat has an airbag, and is in good shape.

Anyone have any ideas how to get the airbag light off? IS there a way to pull a fuse to get the light to turn off? Any help would be appreciated

I wouldn't ride in that death trap or let anyone I cared about.

I agree with others that doesn't look like a beefy enough mounting setup. in fact the seat mounting I am sure is a very scienced out part of the design of these trucks. I totally agree that the seats in these trucks are very uncomfortable. in fact I can't remember a vehicle I have ever driven with seats less comfortable. The best solution I have seen is another guy used the seat frame and put the previous generations seat phone padding on it. he made a few modications and got it to work.

Have a 2017 Lariat and love the seats. Traded in a 2012 Lariat and really didn't like them. Just funny how different people fit different seats....

My question is... what is so different about the 2013 seat vs 2015 that makes this better for your back?
You couldn't have just bought a lumber pillow or some type of back support that straps into the 2015 seat?
I find this "solution" to be a bit on the extreme side... i can't imagine the 2013 seats are THAT much different... and I would almost think the newer 2015 seat has more to it, and is more adjustable... ?

Here is the answer to the OP's question. More than likely the harness matches, but there are a lot of differences between 09-14 seats and 15+ seats. The MIL for the airbags is because the drivers seat is missing.

They are quite a bit different. I was in the same boat and actually spent $400 on a 2012 FX4 Heated/cooled seat, not to swap like the OP did, but for the seat cushions. I actually did swap the bottoms out and found it much better than the 16 seat.

The issue is that the center padding is lower than the side bolsters, and they press against the nerve in my legs and causes pain which then radiates up the back. When you have bad disks and arthritis in the spine, it does not take much to set it off.

What I didn't like with the 2012 cushion, even though it did work, and from a glance you wouldn't know, but the sides of the cushion had holes exposed, and looked torn. I did finally figure out the best solution though. Using the original seat cover and cushion I slipped 4" of bed foam between the cushion and seat pan. Seat is now perfect. The only thing you notice is that the center of the cushion is level with the bolsters.

As for the 2012 seat, I have it put back together and once I figure out the wiring and add a 12v power supply(and a 5V if needed), I will make some wooden rockers for it and make a heated/cooled 10 way adjustable rocking chair. The seat is rather comfortable.

As for what the OP did, I would not trust it in a collision. There are better ways to make a bracket, and by not tying the front and back pieces together, an sudden impact will cause them to move. If anything, a piece of steel welding the two pieces together is a must.
