Install: Remote Access DL3Z-19A390-B & Security Kit FS7Z-19A361-A

There is a good thread started at the hyperlink just below on the OEM remote start and security kit, but I wanted to start a new thread for the DIY installation.

https://www.f150forum.com/f118/remot...2015-a-298765/

In the above link there are photos of the installation kits for both the remote start and the alarm. Initially, I only wanted the remote start feature, but was told that in order to get the remote start to work, I needed the alarm as well. This definitely appears to be the case.

Onto the installation instructions.

Step 1 - Identify the ODBII port under the steering wheel. The photo directly below shows the BACK SIDE of the OBDII port.

Step 2 - There is a little clip in the middle of OBDII connection (on the back and in the middle) that needs to be pressed in. You can see this in the photo above. The clip is attached to the connector that is removed. Wiggle the connector from left to right while pressing on the clip and the back of the connector will come off.

Step 3a & 3b - Take the Y-harness with the 3 connections that came with the alarm system and install the 2 ODBII ends. One end goes to the fixed end of the OBDII connector on the truck, the other end goes to the other end of the ODBII connector (the one you just disconnected). You are essentially adding in a jumper.

Step 4 - Install the alarm 'box/ by taking the 3rd y-harness connection and plug it into the only receptacle on the box that will receive this connector. This is the black connector on the right in the photo below.

Step 5 - Insert the Remote Start Module connector into the alarm 'box' in the only receptacle that it will fit into.

This is the white connector shown in the photo of Step 4 above.

Step 6 - mount the alarm box. I chose to grab some 3M double sided foam tape (not provided) and stick the box to another electronic module just above and to the left of the brake pedal. MAKE SURE TO ORIENT THE ALARM SENSITIVITY DIAL SO THAT IT IS EASILY ACCESSIBLE. Later on you may need to adjust the sensitivity of the alarm.

The Alarm box is on the left side in the photo directly below.

Step 7 - mount the remote start box. I chose to again use 3M double sided foam tape (not provided) and attach this to the other side of the same electronic module. I twist tied the remote start cable/wire out of the way and then wrapped one zip tie (provided) around all of the modules and boxes to hold them together.

The RMS module is on the right side of the photo shown in step 6 above. You can see the bright LED shining on that box.

I hope the photos and write up are helpful.

Thanks so much. VERY helpful.

Now if I could just find a stereo wiring color guide for my new Platinum!

Nice write up!

I just installed mine today, VSS module zip tied to the harness that plugs into module above, RMS module zip tied to the main harness as per the instructions. Went to adjust the sensitivity and the friggen knob breaks off!!! Benny from Levittown Ford said he would replace it. I was able to adjust the sensitivity with a small screwdriver. He activated it and it works great. I zip tied up the excess wiring but the wiring that goes into the VSS is a bit stiff. Hope I didn't mess up the connector that used to go into the OBD port when I tied everything together and pushed it up.

What is the verdict? How much do you use/like the remote access? I just got my 15 F-150 yesterday and of course I am looking at all the accessories.

Neffster 08-27-2015 06:59 PM

I use it almost daily. It's worth the money IMO.

I love it. Works flawlessly. I have a more comprehensive system in my Corvette, aka OnStar.
