I wouldn't obsess over a roof seam you normally don't see as long as it's properly applied...
I noticed mine one day, but there are no leaks or anything. As you said, I hardly see it so I'm not even gonna mess with it.

My local dealer, based on the opinions of two body shops, is not recommending replacing for fear of creating more issues. This leaves me with a new truck with a ugly, cosmetic flaw that I'm going to have to live with. True that nobody else sees it unless up in the bed but I see it at every wash and that is not right to have to live with. Might not bother some but definitely bothers me. Picking up tonight and going to talk to management. Will update later

if the seam does its job = seal and doesn't let water in .... why would/should Ford remove it for purely cosmetic reasons? might well look for paint imperfections under the hood or measure some gaps under the truck...

if you want that detail to perfection ... get a Lexus and pay $$$

Precisely why Ford is now covering this area on the new 2017 Super Duty with a plastic channel trim like other cars in the lineup and other manufacturers. Now you won't see the "wave" and won't care!

Mine's a little wavy. Who cares? I know I don't. I don't make a habit of staring at the roof of my truck. I have more important things to do with my time.

I've never seen the issue with this as long as it's functioning as designed.

Yeah OP if it bothers you get the cover that they're putting on the super duties roof. That's what I'm going to do

My expectation when I buy a new vehicle is that it's right. Both Mechanically and its finish. It is bad enough that the dealership didn't balk at fixing it and agreed that it isn't right. That is until they received opinions from two body shops. So, I'll agree to leave it alone because of potential issues resulting in removal/replacement. But not satisfied with the finish. What these trucks cost today, or any new vehicle for that matter, I expect more and have no problem saying it. No matter if it's a Kia or Lexus. Not a Ford apologist or loyalist here. First one actually.

Mine is pretty messy too. I didn't care until I moved to my new house, my balcony is above my driveway so I'm looking down on the roof of my truck. Might get the covers from the Super Duty.
