Default I'm gonna upgrade to a newer truck----suggestions?

Just sold my 2005 FX4 tonight. The other week I posted in the 2009-2014 section asking for suggestions. Some of them recommended getting a 2015 for the price I was going to spend. Do you like your 2015/16? Would you do it again? I was originally planning on spending mid to upper $30K on a 13/14 model loaded with options. Now I'm wondering if I should look into the 15's. I've driven a handful of 3.5 EB's, there doesn't seem to be many 5.0 in my area. I haven't tried a 2.7 yet. Just wondering. Luckily I have a $500 beater to get me around until I find the right one. I'm looking for a 4x4 Screw. I really loved my FX4 bucket seats and center column shifter and would like to have that again.

Thanks for any input,

Dave

although i like my 15 a lot
there are a lot of random issues popping up - call them 1st year gremlins

i traded my 14 fx4 5.0 done exactly how i liked it
lift, tires exhaust intake tune custom touches etc etc
now i have a 15 5.0 done up exactly the same aside from a longer box

and i wish i still had my old truck - felt more solid, and had all the issues ironed out.
and oddly enough got better mileage

- my 2 cents

What kind of mileage does the 5.0 get? better or worse than the 3.5? I'm also hoping someone gives input on the 2.7.

Stock I averaged 15.6 around town with the 2015 f150 super crew 4x4 5.0 with 3.55 gears and avg 14.2 with the 16 I have that has the 3.5 EB and is packaged the same. My avg with the 15 with level kit and 34" tires was 14.3 and my avg with the 16 EB with slightly taller tire is 13.4. The EB definitely handles the bigger tires better and I really don't feel that big of a difference over stock tires. I could tell a bigger difference with the 5.0

Over all I like the new truck better than the 09-14. I think the ride is better and I got better mileage with the 5.0 in my 15 than I did with the 11 and 13 FX4 trucks I had. I drove a 2012 F150 trade in a week or so ago when I took my truck to the dealer to get a spray in liner put in and was happy to get my 2016 back. If you buy a truck with massaging and air-conditioned seats don't expect the seat back to cool well because it doesn't compared to the older trucks.

I trade too often but have owned 3 f150's in the last body style and two now with the new and like the new truck better

I live in a really hilly city so my fuel mileage could be worse than others. If you get the older truck with the 5.0 get 3.73 gears. The new truck 3.55 was fine until I put on bigger tires

my 15 I'm getting 11.76 mpg with the 5.0 and 3.55 gears. intake, exhaust ,custom tune
my 14 i got 18.38 average with bigger heavier tires 3.73 gears and 5.0 same intake, diff exhaust, custom tune.

and i work 20 days away from home 600 km trip(372 miles) one way to my job site ( so 1200 kms(745 miles)a month just from that round trip, then home for 10 days then do it again
some elevation change on the highway. you'd think the 2.55 would be much better on high way

i can't speak about the eco boost mileage though

i found the opposite , with the same lift from the 14- 15, i feel like the 15 bounces around n comes off the road too much. haven't tested on any really bad gravel roads on the way to work yet. but my 14 was planted. felt like a sports car in comparison

Ford Certified PreOwned 2013 or 2014 Platinums are nice and a few are available in the mid $30k price range! Getting hard to find though.

The 15-16 trucks do feel lighter and I think my 16 which has the fx4 pkg rides better than the 15 non fx4 did. I am not really on any rough roads but do drive hilly roads with a lot of turns. I had the boss ultimate lift installed yesterday so I can't really say I have an fx4 anymore but liked the stock ride and handling. The ride isn't as harsh in the newer trucks but its not like the 09-14 was rough either
