I want the F150 but...
I've always owned Fords. My first car was a Mercury Mystique, followed by a 4.6L Mustang GT. I've had my eye on the F150 for the past few years, I think it's the best looking full size out there without a doubt. I was close to pulling the trigger on a 2018 left over Lariat 501a, but after thinking about it more the value for me isn't there right now.
The Ram in a Big Horn, or Laramie, comes w/ 4A, blind spot monitor, a 7" cluster screen, and LED heaedlights, and its price is cheaper than an not only an XLT, but a Lariat as well.
Why can't Ford put these options standard on an XLT model at least? Is there any chance of this happening for the 2019 or 2020 models?

Got to pay to play.
Fords are more expensive than the competition. Is it worth it? Only you can decide that based on the truck and features you need.
Some may also argue Ford has a higher resale value - this can be true, but with any used vehicle, resale value takes into a TON of factors and I don't believe this can be a blanket statement about F-series trucks.

Resale on the f-150 will be better than a Ram. As stated above you have to pay to play. The rams tank on value as soon as they are driven off of the lot, whereas my 16 f-150 we paid 34 and sold private party for 34500 in a week- truck had 16k. It comes down to your preferences and what your wallet allows!

Well all the way through the 2018 models Ram has historically had much worse safety ratings (I do see their 2019 rated as well as the F150).....for myself anyway I have been perfectly willing to pay more for a safer truck. 'Value' isn't always in the trinkets you see.

one the uconnect systems isn't as good as sync3. But if it meets your needs- it does.
as far as the other bit - what you see is that the Ram didn't sell well and you are going to be able to walk into one cheaper with features you want. That's features though - what about the rest of the veichle.
I think fuel economy and transmission reliability concerns have people shying away from the Ram. Honestly without air ride package I think they handle and ride bad - but the Ram was my number 2 choice.
The F150 with 2.7L ticked all the boxes while getting better mpg and driving better. At the time the cost difference wasn't that far off so it didn't much matter there. For a few thousand less (like say 4) then the payoff makes sense, maybe less. You have to buy alot of fuel to cover 4K in 5 years.

In this day and age I dont think push button start, heated steering wheel and dual zone ac is too much to ask on a loaded up XLT.
I dont necessarily want leather, but I do want those things.
I dont want all the other electronic crap,,,,,im good with a manual tailgate.
If Dodge can do it....why cant Ford

the ram is cheaper because they have to try and get buyers from Ford's market share
