SO now I'm curious. THe power delivery seems pretty linear - I love it. SO much torque down low. Really not much advantage to pushing the pedal to the bottom. Just keeping it at 60-70% it stays in the torque band and just flips those gears around 3-4k rpms with just bushels of ftlbs SO if I did a tune, does the addtl torque stay pretty linear?
Glad to hear you've been enjoying the new truck! These new gen 2 models definitely make some great power and run strong even right from the factory. Then going to to a custom tune for premium fuel and these trucks become a whole new animal. That nice linear feeling torque curve is still present, but much more responsive feeling down low and way more powerful when you go full throttle as well. Here's an example of another 3.5L EcoBoost 10 speed here on the chassis dyno that's running our 93 octane flex fuel performance tuning.

This run shows stock versus 93 Performance which picked up around 85 wheel HP and 45 WTQ with peak vs. peak gains being +103 WHP +97 WTQ.

Very impressive. Does it adjust if you put in 87 by mistake or if you are on the road and can't find 93? or is that a big no no?

Thank you very much for the kind words!

The tunes are configured for the minimum octane required for use, being 93 octane in this example. There's enough logic that it can add or subtract timing to an extent to adjust for different locations / fuel qualities. So if you had a below average tank of 93 it could pull some power back as it sees changes in knock and things of that nature, and if you add some even higher octane such as 100 octane unleaded race gas it can add some power above what 93 would have allowed. But going all the way down to 87 octane on a 93 tune could lead to engine damage if you were out doing some aggressive full throttle driving and didn't catch it soon enough. So it's always a good idea to run a full tank or two of 93 octane fuel through the truck first before loading a 93 octane required tune if you're not sure what was in the tank previously. Then we do also offer flex fuel tuning where the ECU can adjust on the fly as needed for changes between say 93 octane and E85 or a blend of the two even. But to go that route there are other modifications needed such as our Firestorm high pressure fuel pump, upgraded injectors, and an in tank fuel pump upgrade as well.

Here's a link to the Flex fuel video demonstration here on the dyno with a more in depth explanation of how it can adjust for changes in ethanol content on the fly.

I never notice any difference using 87 then 93.
