Rarely go to dealerships because my personal experience is that I will find incompetence and a general lack of ethics. Want do hear the details? Be happy to start threads and name names. Not saying they are all that way, just every one I have ever dealt with in my 55 years. Counts for motorcycle dealerships too. With the exception of the no yelling comment, pretty much everything in post #1 is fairytale nonsense.
Gene Evans Ford Atl southside giving a elder woman in the family over $1200 estimate for a slight hesitation (spark plugs issue) on an old crown vic. Also charged 120 to read codes even though the car had no codes and they were told. Apparently diff fluid change, serpentine belt, injection clean, and on and on is needed for hesitation.
Took same car to Alan Vigil Ford Morrow GA to get plugs changed. Plugs changed and now car dies. THREE MONTHS in shop parts swapping while I was travelling and couldn't fix her car myself. Finally they give the car back and want 2 grand for the trouble even though not fixed. I take the car and go straight to the drivability section of the manual. STEP 1 says to check the EGR solenoid. Sure enough it's busted and quite obviously by a mechanic prying on it to pull a plug boot. Took the part to Alan Vigil and got the good ol I'm a dumbass shoulder shrug.
Auto Nation Ford Union city GA. Having electrical issues and with internet research diagnose to internally leaking brake pressure switch. Dealer will hear none of it and give the ol can not duplicate. I finally fix myself and the switch design is completely different so I have to get an "upgrade kit with a pigtail harness". About a month later Ford issues a recall for this same part shorting due to internal leakage and causing cars and truck to burn down sitting in the garage. Auto Nation Ford Union City Ga won't even refund my parts because "we don't do refunds on electrical parts".

I could go on all day with this crap, but suffice it to say that post #1 is a no sell here.

i'l agree to this except #1. I had a problem with my 2011 and 3 dealers could not figure out. After searching one of the online forums i found a TSB. I returned to the closest dealership and asked about the TSB and had it fixed in 2 hours.

All of the comments are real and valid I have worked as a tech in a dealership for nearly 40 years, you charge to much , you didn't fix it , its the same problem as last time ever since you worked on my brakes, the windows wont go down, its a tough people pleasing bizz and some people refuse to be happy kissing butt every day gets old but we do it anyway, things break, parts get back ordered, some issue are tough as nails to find and repair. come see me, I will shake your hand, look you in the eye and try to repair your issue , no matter how many times it takes. be alittle patient and try to understand that every one most likely tries to please you . if they don't they loose your repeat business and in the end , the income . there are many qualified techs that are willing to repair your vehicle , just find him/her .... ok I feel better now.....lol

Sorry, but you can get a refund on recall parts. I purchased a part for my now gone '99 Ranger from my dealer. Next time I went in for the Works, service manager mentioned my truck had a recall, which was for the part I purchased. Told him I had purchased the part and they had replaced it. He looked up receipt and gave me a full refund.

If the part is recall and Auto Union Ford won't refund, contact Ford Customer Service and file a complaint. Tell them you want to speak to the REGIONAL manager if they cannot help you.

One thing a buddy had done when he bought a part for his Chev Blazer and it was recalled a few weeks later. Dealer and GM blew him off. He had a sign made up that read " XXX Chevy charges customers for recalls", put it on the tailgate, drove around with it there and made sure he parked it facing the dealer across the street when he ate lunch at the McDonalds directly across the street. He was handed a check for the part and labor (replaced it himself) the third day to get rid of the sign. He gave it to the dealership after the check cleared.

That's hilarious!

The electric vacuum assist pump on my 2011 F-150 went out, and the dealer wanted $700+labor (so $800-850) to replace it. Truck was just out of warranty. I went on eBay and bought the part for $350 and installed it myself in about a half hour while YouTubing it lol.

A few months later, Ford recalled it, and the dealer sent me a check after I emailed them the eBay invoice.

it's a good post, and i support it. What bothers me are the hours at dealerships. It's nearly impossible for me to get my vehicle in the shop because I work days. by the time I get home, it's too late for them to do anything. I just need my specific dealership to have some later hours a couple nights a week.

When you pay 60,000 , 80,000 or more for a truck. I do expect more than a purchaser of the entry level focus.

When you spend big sums on a vehicle, like my BMW M sure hell better get more services accommodations than a entry level purchaser.
Maybe Ford should move the Platinum and limited to Lincoln status and service them with Lincoln commitment... what did like about
Lexus, had adult areas, no screaming brats allows. Was a business atmosphere .
