Agreed, except the IIHS is the group that does safety ratings that insurance companies use to rate vehicles for setting insurance rates. They are about as independent and unbiased as you can get.

So this guy would rather the passengers in the rear seat of the Chevy get crushed as long as the body doesn't tear (even though both vehicles are totaled)? Did he not notice that the body of the Ford stayed in tact and all occupants lived? Sounds like a win for Ford to me.

I understand the need for crash test don't get me wrong. What I never understood is, the solid object that they crash a truck head-on with is just that, a solid fix object that doesn't come anywhere close to representing another vehicle when in most cases a head-on collision is. Isn't a truck going to collapse completely different hitting a solid object than it is another vehicle?

Who gives a **** if the body is torn in parts, the truck is totaled either way lol. That video is hilarious. Look at how intact the cab is on the Ford compared to the Chevy.

Also, this is the best comment on that video, I almost died laughing.

This clown's brain is lost some where in that sheep that's growing on his chin. He's more worried that you will cut a finger while climbing out of a horrific roll over, but this old *** goat is satisfied with riding in a piece of **** truck that lets the roof collapsed in on you and shoves your head down into your body way past your ****ing dick and nuts. I wounder how much money GM paid this old ****er to look stupid. Ford people will at lest come out alive while the Chevy boys will be tasting their dick in their mouth if their head is still attached to them.

That video clearly shows the cab structure intact. I'll take that any day in a roll-over.

So, the people drove off a mountain while sleeping in the ford, AND lived? Hmmm....let that sink in. This guy is such a buffoon.

The classs I've taken for extraction teach that a fixed object doesn't disperse energy as well as a movable object. More energy is transferred back to the vehicle. A second vehicle brings its own energy to the party so that adds to the potential damage. There's a ton of factors, all change the outcome.

So yes, it's different. Sometimes better, sometimes worse.
