HP and Touque for 3.5 and 5.0???
#21
To put the performance of the 5.0 in perspective, if this engine was produced in the muscle car era, it would be rated at ~460 horsepower.
In a truck.
A truck that gets 20+ MPG on the road.

Awesome news on the 5.0L. Now, just need MPG ratings across the board and some real world reviews.

I am surprised they didnt bump the eco. We know it is not at it's ceiling with the results some of the tuners are getting. I am guessing they bumped the 5.0 so much to help consumers accept the fact we only have 1 V8 option. I know if my truck was 700lbs lighter and had this hp bump, it would be unbelievable fun. I was amazed how quick it was when I test drove it compared to the 5.4's I had. Even now with 34" tires it is still quick enough to satisfy me. The 3.5 ECO is stable in the market as a true towing engine. Maybe Ford is waiting to bump it up until after the 2.7 gets established and they monitor the take-rate.

When I did the math, I believe there was ~90 RPM difference at 65 MPH between the 3.31 & 3.55. The 3.73 wasn't available on the 4X2 for me.

I was surprised that they didn't bump the 3.5L Ecoboost, too.
I was especially surprised they didn't at least list it as the same HP and torque of the 3.5L Ecoboost that is available in the 2015 Lincoln Navigator. The Navigator lists the 3.5EB at 380HP and 460 ft-lb. (http://www.lincoln.com/suvs/navigator/)
Shouldn't the 3.5EB in the F-150 at least be equivalent to the Navigator?

I wonder if the 5.0's numbers are on 93 octane like they've been rating all their engines lately. The 3.5EB numbers (365-420) are on 87 octane. It'll probably make Lincoln power (380-460) on 93 octane.

The 2.7 is the star of the show for 2015. The 3.5l will get a bump in a year or two. The 5.0l was bumped because it has to impress those who are looking at V8 trucks from the competition and only want a V8.

I'm surprised that the EcoBoost has the highest tow rating, but the second highest payload. From everything I've seen with the current gen, It's pretty hard to reach the first, without needing the second.

I would get it with 3.73 for sure.
I have the 3.55 now with 33's and there's a noticeable difference.
