Like Ricktwuhk says, follow the manual. If your driving conditions are really dusty, change it a little sooner.
This makes no sense.

Everyone's driving conditions are different. To change at the optimum time for you depends on where and how you drive. Some people could go 30k with no problem, some could need changed at 10K.

Screw the manual and check it each time you change your oil. Generally speaking between 20 and 30K is when it's going to need changed.

Yes, you're wasting money. But it's your money, so do what you want.

For what it's worth, you also spent money on a manual. I'd go with what that says. Ford has a modified maintenance schedule for vehicles under severe service.

Over-maintainers gonna over-maintain. Then come to the internet to seek confirmation that they aren't alone.

Give me a break. I was curious about a high performance filter so I’m giving it a try. It’s reusable so it’s probably less expensive in the long run.

I'd rather buy a used vehicle from someone who over maintains rather than someone who under maintains.

How about someone that just maintains as recommended in the Owner's Manual?

I could certainly live with that!
