Default How many speakers?

Just bought a 2016 XLT 302A Supercab. Was reading that it has 7 speakers without the kicker. so 8 with the kicker. Is this true? Is the 7th speaker in the middle on the front dash? Thanks for shedding light on this.

yes, the 4 door speakers, two tweeters in the a pillars, and the center channel above the head unit.

1. Center of front dash (on top)
2&3. Tweeters in A-piller
4&5. Front door speakers
6&7. Rear door speakers
8. Optional sub (kicker)

However, overall system is crap. Especially w/o a sub.

I find the stock system to be much better than anything else I've driven that was stock... Even my BMW's sounds system was "meh". And really, it's good enough for me, and sounds nice. I also don't blast my music anymore, those days are over and I find it annoying now. I'm also sick of swapping out speakers and installing subs.

Yes first post here but question on speaker count does this go for the non-Sony system as well? I saw the tweeter pods but was unsure if that was just for bluetooth and wasn't sure if the center grate actually had a speaker for non-Sony systems. Thanks and bear with me I'm coming over from the Tundra world!

Agreed. stock system in my Lariat sounds great compared that what I had in the BMW 320i stock system. The vehicle being very quiet also helps.... I had friends ride with me (they drive a 328i and VW) and they mentioned how quiet it is inside the F150 cabin

Yes, the seven speaker system is the non Sony system found in XLT 302a package and others. Not sure if base XL's have seven speakers or not.

Where is the sub located? I believe I only have the 7 speaker system in my XLT. I'm not really a fan of it either. My old Subaru had the stock HK system which sounded 10 times better then this IMO.

Oh well I guess.

If you have a sub (an XLT can't have the Sony system, but it could have the optional kicker sub) it's located behind the rear drivers side seat back.

Have you tried changing the audio setting to "drivers" position? I think mine sounds a lot better once I did that.

Many thanks...I think the non-Sony system isn't as bad as some make it out to be. It's not great, but definitely serviceable. I changed my EQ to +3 bass, 0 mid, +3 treble and set to "Driver" and it's not bad.
