Default How many sets is too many? 285/60R20 Toyo Open Country R/T 's mounted

Admittedly, I have a problem. My truck just had it's 3rd birthday and all it asked for was a set of new shoes.

This also happens to be it's 5th set of shoes since new. 6th set if you count the oem 17's I still use for winter wheels. Then again, I'm selling those stock tires and buying snow tires for next winter to mount on those wheels.

My truck is also filthy, I'll certainly post better photos once I get the truck all cleaned up. I sold my Black Rhino wheels that were running BFG's and went back to chrome wheels. I picked up a set of 2018 take offs. For some reason, I really like these wheels and mounted a set of 285/60R20 Toyo Open Country R/T's. So far so good. I only have 50 miles on them. I certainly hear/feel this tread pattern more than the BFG or Falken's I had previously.

This picture still has my winter tires in the bed.

Freshly mounted still at the tire place.

I guess it depends on how many miles you have on it, but it sure seems like too many sets to me. I still have the original tires on my 2015 that I use in the summer and another set of winter tires for winter, but I only have 20,000 miles. I'm waiting for the originals to wear out so I can replace them with better tires because I'm too cheap to replace them before that, but I think it'll be quite a while.

I was wondering what those wheels would look like on a 2015. I think I might have found my next set. There is never too many sets to have. I am about to go on my third.

IMO I think it's kind of pointless to have that many sets of tires lying around not being used.

All tires expire, so you're paying to just have them sit around and go bad.

Like buying fruit and then just watching it go moldy on the counter haha.

Unless you're selling ones and replacing with others.

But I say just get a nice summer set and a nice winter set and be done until you want or need to change them up!

UnkLeRaRa, 110% agree. I'm definitely selling my previous sets as I go along. For example, I sold my Black Rhino wheels and BFG's for $1800. I got these new wheels for $800 shipped, sensors for $50 and the Toyo's cost me $1200 mounted and balanced. Out of pocket it cost me $250 for the upgrade. I could go through my other deals and what they cost me versus what I sold them but overall it's not as bad as the number of sets would suggest.

Brg2015, you're doing it the wise way. I just can't leave well enough along and I'm changing them out for personal aesthetic reasons only.

Do you have a level on your truck to fit that size?

Still liking the Toyo Open Country R/T tires? I'm between these, the Nitto Ridge Grapplers, Terra Grapplers, or the Toyo Open Country AT2 Extreme. I'll definitely be running the size you have, 285/60/r20. I'm putting a 2 inch level on mine. I'd do a 1.5, but I'm concerned about the crash bars on the 2019 F-150.

I have 285/65r20 Terra Grapplers with a 2in level. Tires don't even come close to the crash bars so you'll be fine.
