I've kept them as short as 1 year, and up to 15 and counting. I know I take a hit, but I don't care. I've had used before, but never felt comfortable in it, just felt like I allowed myself to be violated or something, and usually wound up with more trouble than it was worth to me. Sometimes I'll get bored with the present one and trade or sell. If a vehicle, regardless of age, starts giving me troubles that I don't feel are reasonable, it will be gone. That is unless it's a true classic muscle car.

I used to buy a new truck every 2-3 years. Now I realize that I was just throwing my money away. All the money wasted on tax and license then the depreciation of the vehicle itself. I've had my 2015 for 4 years now and put 48000 miles on it. It still runs and looks great and I plan on keeping it for as along as possible. That is at least until I see the new redesign

Of course. If it makes you happy then go for it. Like I said, I have used to buy a car every 2-3 years and did that for about 12 years. Now I don't, or at least Im trying not to.

I drove an 02 Lariat FX4 SCREW until I bought a new 18 Lariat FX4 SCREW. The 02 "fit" me perfectly and it just kept going (other than a few coils/plugs here and there).
The '18 feels almost as comfortable - as long as it keeps running (I haven't experienced ANY of the issues I read on here..knock on wood) I'll keep it as long as I can.

Holding the title in hand to a vehicle is a great thing. I am very blessed and thankful. As long as the truck holds together I will keep driving it. I suspect these trucks can last 20 years in northern climates with preventative washing in the winter.
I figure if the average truck payment is around $700 per month it is still a lot cheaper down the road to put a couple grand into a vehicle every year for repairs versus $8400 a year (12 x $700) in truck payments.

uncommonly sensible
The poll kind of lost the plot after 8 years. I would have gone for a wider time range so I picked 'Until if falls apart'.
That's pretty much the position I've taken with my purchased new 1996 Grand Cherokee. I recent sold my very good condition 2002 Dodge Ram CTD after 19 years of ownership and I ride my 1998 DR650 twice a week (the other bikes need love too).
As for the 2018 F-150, bought the 7-year warranty and maintenance plans because I don't see myself wrenching on this truck and in 7 years I should know whether or not I want to keep it. I really hope it holds up because I can't think of a better (4-wheeled) vehicle for me.
