Ford is not going the diesel way in a half ton. Their 2.7 eco will (hopefully) get similar MPG, less torque, more HP, and much lower price. Add up all the pros and cons and you should get an engine which is competitive, just not a mirror of it.

If I were to buy a 2015 it would definitley be a 2.7. If ny 3.7 can tow 5000 lbs and haul 1400 lbs of building materials, I'm pretty sure the 2.7 will exceed the needs of most 1/2 ton owners. Majority of 1/2 ton drivers don't even use their truck as a truck.

so your saying the engine thats going to bridge the gap between the 3.7 v6 and the 5.0 v8 is going to be the most powerful engine ford has. Wrong. It goes 3.7 2.7 5.0 then 3.5. The 2.7 is the midline v6 tt.

He never said that. He said it would be the best (when you add up all the pros and cons.) Biggest or most powerful isn't always best. Even if the 6.2 and eco were the same price, I have a feeling more people would have bought the eco considering the advantages. Other than you, very few thought that the 6.2 was the best engine and the sales numbers show that.
