I'm one who removes some badging. So I personally would not add badging back on. I love my 5.0. I had the 5.4 and did not care for it. I had 2013 5.7 hemi. I like my 5.0.

What bugs me is that after reading Car & Driver this month. They said Ford is going to be phasing out the 5.0 in the next year or so for the F150. That bums me out. I got the 5.0 primarily so I could get the plow package option. If that goes away, not sure what I'll do come 2018 upgrade time.

SO EB sales are still climbing, at one point in 2015 the 5.0 alone accounted for about 33% with the V6's splitting the rest (which sounds a lot better than the 5.0 and NA 3.5 splitting 36%).

As for the OP, the reason the engine makes more power in the Mustang is because they made changes to try to improve the torque at lower rpm and in doing so that limited the hp at higher rpm.

No, the ECOBOOST engines account for 60% of all F150 sales. The remaining 40% is shared between the NA 3.5L and the 5.0L engines.

This article seems to agree until the bold part at the bottom...

Thank you 11screw50. That makes me feel better. I think the 5.0 is a great motor. If I didn't have the need to plow, yeah...I'd probably have the 2.7 for my needs. But I do love the sound of the V8.

If either of the ecoboosts sounded like the 5.0, this discussion would be moot. Hell im a mustang guy, but I opted for the 2.7. Sound alone isn't good enough anymore.

Having said that, Ford is going to have to work on the 5.0 as the new Camaro is running rings around it. It's got to be more power because the chasis was new last year.

36% of the sales, and 25% of the engine choices with no advertising. Ford is banking hard the EB's, but consumers still love a good V8.
