Default How do you wash your truck

Looking for the best way to clean up my truck. What products do you use? How often do you wash it? Do you run it through a hands free and then detail? What do you use to get a nice dark shine on the tires?

Also, my truck came with 3 yrs of Zaktek applications (one every 6 mos). Thoughts on Zaktek? I’d never heard of Zaktek until the dealer told me it came with my purchase.

with soap, duh.

i use chemical guys extreme wash & wax and a sheepskin mitt. i use the 2 bucket method along with a foam cannon to soak it first and wash it every 2 or 3 weeks. i use griots garage long lasting tire gel.

i used to just run my truck through the full service wash, but i just had my paint corrected and ceramic pro done, so i'm taking the effort to keep it looking nice and swirl free.

I never use car washes first thing. I use the two bucket method with my high quality wash mitts. I'll spray all the excess dirt off with a hose get it real wet then use the foam gun to get it really soapy. Then I'll use the mitts paying close attention to your mitts for things that may scratch or swirl your paint. I use chemical guys soaps. I usually start buy cleaning my wheels and tires and undercarriage first. I like to get that knocked out first. Then I get new mitts and clean out my wash buckets that have dirt pans in the bottoms of my buckets. Then I start on the top of the vehicle working my way down in sections. When I'm done washing I use an gas powered blower to blow as much water off and out of the cracks of my truck as possible . I follow that by wiping the excess water off with mequirs wallfle weave towels. After that I spray my truck with chemical guys v7 gloss enhancer and wipe of with a very clean fine microfiber towel using more then one. I wax my truck twice a year one before winter and once before summer with good quality wax pads applying the wax in back and forth motions with colinite 845. Every now in then I will use a spray wax when I feel it needs it. Use good mitt, microfiber towels and keep them clean when using them! I always try to wash when the cars cool and in the shade to avoid water spots. Here is a pic from me waxing it the other day

I use optimum no-rinse. I am not trying to say it is the best, but since I hate drying after washing (call me lazy) it has worked pretty well for me.

Ha. Glad I’m not the only one who uses a gas blower to dry my truck. I know my neighbors look at me like I’m crazy.

With a ladder! Man, it's big. I'm 6 feet tall and can't reach the middle of the windshield and back window without getting on something. I clean and wax the roof from the bed.

Monthly pass for $22 at the car wash. I wash it every time I go by. Brushes and all. No scratches or swirls.
