HomeLink range

How hard would it be to replace the module? I think the module would just be right in the button. I'd think it could replaced easily and that may fix everything.
Not a fix honestly we should have to do, Ford should take care of it, but just a thought.

It would seem that making a longer antenna wire is solving many of the issues.
As far as replacing the unit, you're not going to do that without disassembling the visor. In past years, the visor was hard plastic, and you could peel back the fabric, insert and wire in the module, and put the fabric back without anyone telling the difference.
If this is a different module, it may be a different shape. I've also read that the visor is NOT the same composition as in prior years nor does the fabric open in the same manor - so no, it's not simple swap.
I would agree that Homelink and Ford need to get on this.

I took delivery of my 2015 Lariat and had the same issue with the Homelink system. Worked close to my Chamberlain opener, but no more than a few feet outside the door. Then I came across this link: http://www.overheaddoor.com/garage-d...tructions.aspx
This time I followed the directions to a tee, starting with clearing my current Homelink codes in the visor. My range is now at least 100' and in line with what I expect. The Homelink button needs to be held for about one second. A brief push doesn't work.
Hope this helps others.

Homelink instructions
Those overhead door instructions are right off the homelink site. For a lot of us it seems that we cant get beyond step 2 which is getting a fast blink. the fact that some have success in getting the thing programmed may well indicate that some of the owners that had success may have different modules than those of us who cant get them to work at all or in very limited circumstances like making the long antenna.

My Lariat was delivered just last week. The garage door opener remote had brand new batteries. I lowered the visor about 1/4 of the way, held the remote up high by the windshield (maybe 8-10" away from the homelink button), and pressed both.
My homelink on the visor blinked rapidly in about 10 seconds.
I then went back into the garage, pressed the learn button, and came back out and held the blinking button until the door moved. That was it. And my range went from 10' to probably 100'. Happy to report mine is okay now.

F-150 Lariat bought on Thursday. Having the same range problems with HomeLink. It is terrible. I tried erasing all codes and programming all my cars and openers again with no luck. I extended the antenna all the way out of the garage from the LiftMaster unit also with no luck. I can only get it to work if I pull up right against the garage door, open the visor, and push the button without holding it and pushing the button while holding it multiple times. After 5 or 6 pushes it works 50% of the time, the other 50% I give up and get out of the truck and go punch in the code to open the door.
I called Ford Support and filed a case but they said there were no recalls yet. I don't know anything about this but maybe the aluminum body is messing up the signal... My 2013 Toyota Sienna Limited HomeLink works great and my 2006 Lexus IS350 worked great. I didn't think that this would be an issue in a brand new $50,000 truck.
On a side note, I love everything else about the truck besides this but this is very frustrating for someone who has come to depend on HomeLink.
