If looks was the half of it...
I was an '97 F150 supercab driver for 14 years until it performed it's terminal trick (seized main bearing at 140K). I had to move on, knowing that the Escort and Taurus I had also previously owned, and was disappointed with, were not all flukes but a trend of Ford designed obsolescence that under-serves the Patriots that continue to give their last full measure.
Before you reply, keep in mind that I'm the guy with the updated maintenance charts on the wall for all my vehicles, to keep oil and filters changed every 5,000 miles and the fluids checked weekly and have had good reps with the dealers, through thick and thin.
I've seen the recalls of poorly designed intake manifolds (4.2L F150) come and go and watched Ford unwilling to reimburse because the "window of opportunity" passed, even though this was a known manifold burn-through issue (resulting in coolant to cylinder 1) from the date of manufacture. Just happened to see the Tech Bulletin on the Internet but received no mailing on that gem!
No vehicle is maintenance-free or immune to mechanical failure but just so you know I've purchased a Tundra, Odyssey and Civic since my Ford decades and have been relieved not to have to scour the internet for tips or comfort in sharing automotive mechanical grief.
Of course you know I wanted to continue buying American but no matter the shiny outer wrapping if the quality isn't there it shows and you may regretfully have to follow these same steps.

^^^ how can you speculate on a vehicle that hasn't been released yet!? For all you know this truck will be major recall and problem free. Only time will tell.

I love my super cab. I'm so glad they left the suicide style doors. 1. The competitor's "ext cabs" look ugly IMO, the dinky *** rear door looks out of place. 2. They are a PITA to get into if you're 5'10 plus. Don't think of an extended cab as a downgrade from a SCrew, think of it as an upgrade from a regular cab. I will admit there are times that I'd rather have a SCrew but an ext cab fits my day to day needs.

You supercab guys wouldn't agree with me, I'd propose doing away with it all together. Just have two cabs, regular and supercrew. Even of I didn't have a family, I'd opt for a crew cab.. The price difference has never been that big, and I'd bet 8 out of 10 trucks are now crew cabs. For every 25 crew cab fords on a lot around here there might be 1 supercab... Maybe. Anyone know the sales numbers broken down by configuration?
I loved the look of the 99-03 supercabs, but haven't been much of a fan with the more square body styles since.

Well, I was hoping for something much better for 2015. I was really thought that Ford would have something along the lines more like the Atlas which looked badass and was more than willing to trade-in my 10 FX4 for one.
If this is really what Ford is going to put out, I don't like it. The front end looks "clunky" more like a Super Duty and the headlights...Meh. The interior does look pretty nice though and I do like the changes. If the real thing looks like these pics, then I guess I'll just keep my FX and put a SC on it and call it done. I do like my FX. Jus my opinion. :o)
