Looks like they finally are offering a Lariat without all the chrome and fake wood trim...
Sounds like the black-out trim that was previously part of the FX4 package is now 'Sport Appearance' on the Lariat, with the FX4 being changed back to an option instead of a model...

Lariat: This well-equipped model has loads of new features, a unique grille and offers Chrome or Sport appearance packages.

Meh...
Kinda' like when a new restaurant opens up. Everybody fights over getting in and getting a good table. Then a year or two later, there's no lines at all.
Not a damn thing thing wrong with my '11 so, I'll wait until there's no lines at all, for this entree...

Crew cab "baby bed" looks smaller than ever. Super cab again for sure (maybe 2017 for me). Looks will grow on us like always.
I imagine these cool new features they boast about will be on higher end trims only. All sub models could use the bed lights for Christ sake. I could care less about the other computer screen crap they are showing off.
The real news is the weight savings. Payloads will be insane if they keep the same GVWR as the last gen trucks.

This is a good thing for simplicity reasons. The FX4 was always meant to be a package as it is on the Super Duties. You could build a Lariat with Off Road package that made a vehicle that was identical to the FX4. Kinda redundant.
...so XL < STX < XLT < Lariat < King Ranch / Platinum ?

I see the stripper pole is removed from the tailgate. I'm guessing that the step is still there and hopefully it does double as a stowaway ladder rack like the Concept showed?
