Help with tires on 18x9 wheels &Fox Coilover
 

Hey All,
There is a lot of stuff about tires and wheels on this forum so sorry if you think this is a repeat, I haven't been able to find something directly related to the set up I am putting together and could use some advice.

I am putting some new wheels on later in the week (I will put a pic in below) along with Fox 2.0 front and rear and will have it sit level/small rake. I have an XLT 4WD. The wheels are 18x9 with a +20 offset. I think with the level stock wheels might look a little small and wanted something a little bigger and aggresive, although nothing crazy. I will be doing most driving on roads and highways but will run into a lot of mud and snow and some pretty rough back roads every once and a while. I am thinking something like a 275/70/18 or 285/70/18. My issue is I don't want to spend a ton of money and most of the wheels that size that fit a 9 inch rim are pretty expensive.

Anyone running a similar setup or have any good advice?

Nobody is running something like this? Or has suggestions on maybe a different tire size that would work for what I am looking for?

I have some Method Double Standard 18x9's (+18) on order with 275/70R18 Toyo MTs. Icon Stage2 2.5" lift/level. I've been waiting forever to pick up my truck from the dealer. As soon as I do I will put those on and let you know.

Look up Yugnat's build. He did Method Roost 20" +0 offset and Cooper SST Pro's in 295/60R20 (IIRC) and it looks really nice. Kind of wishing I went that way, but we will see.

Thanks, those icons should be nice, I don't do enough real off roading to justify the step up from the fox, but sounds like a nice setup. I have looked at Yugnat's a lot i like what he did, I guess I will go through there and see what I can find.

"Open Country M/T 275/70R18 tires weigh 66.1 lbs, have a max load of 3640 lbs, have a maximum PSI of 80 psi, have a tread depth of 19/32" and should be used with a rim width of 7-8-8.5".

So these aren't meant for 9inch wheels. I don't know how much this actually matters though, but have run into this on tons of different options I liked.

I've never heard of stock wheels being +20 offset so I don't think you are correct on that, those tires will mount to 9" wheel np and most after market wheel will be 9" so fairly common size

Your best bet stick with a +20 offset and they will still be tucked enough to fit an oversized tire, much more of an offset you'll have probs wth rubbing on an over sized tire

As far as my new wheels being +20, they aren't stock so that is right, unless you were mentioning something else.

More importantly though, so basically rim recommendation sizes on tires don't matter? Or you have a couple of inches of play with their recommendations? Could you elaborate on that a little more.

I thought the same thing, but the place I bought from said they would work fine on 9" wheels too.

They are supposed to come mounted and balanced, so I guess I'll find out. 285/70R18's would also probably work and they officially say 9" is ok. So another option to look at.
