Default HELP NEEDED - Rear seat latch issue 2018 XLT

My truck is les than a week old, 2018 XLT Sport, SuperCab (not crew) well this morning, when I got in my truck, my rear seat behind the drivers seat was hanging down. It somehow disconnected from the latch that's supposed to keep it in the upright position. So either the latch failed, or it was never full engaged since I bought it a few days ago. That being said, I can't get the latch to hold. I've tried slamming it with some force, but the latch won't catch. Is this a common problem? Any easy fixes? Or is a ride back to the dealership necessary? Thanks guys. I know this isn't a big deal, but it's driving me NUTS because the truck is brand new. Thanks!

Make sure the bar on back wall portion is aligned with the latch.

Skip to 3:20 to see what I'm referring to.

Thanks so much fellas, unfortunately everything is lined up, and it just won't catch. I tried doing it gently, slammed it, nothing seems to work. Very strange and it's really pissing me off lol.

Unhappy

Even though it shows to be "easy" in the video mine has never lined up and closed easy like that.

He must have gotten lucky that it didn't move any when he unlatched it.

Try lifting the seat bottom up along with the back rest and set the bar towards the top. on my 09 F150 I couldnt close the backrest without raising the seat bottom with it.

*****UPDATE*****

So after playing with the latch for a while, I finally got it to close. I think the latch was just stiff. BUTTT here' tthe question.. If I want to open it back up, how the hell do I access that latch release. I watched several YouTube videos, and they say lift the bottom portion of the seat first, as this will cause the top to lean slightly forward, allowing you to get your hand back there. But in my 2018 XLT, this does not happen. Lifting the bottom DOES NOT cause the top of the seat to budge at all. I also found that they sell aftermarket latch kits, which allows you to attach a strap to the latch, making it simple to open it. Question is, why the hell didn't ford include a strap to open the seat?? The passenger side has a simple strap that you pull and the seat folds down. Why wouldn't the drivers side have the same strap??

.
The videos you watched were for ScrewCabs, the Scab seat backs don't lean forward.
.
There should be a short strap attached to the seat lock, hard to grad, but there.
.

.
Rather than buy something, I found something around the house to attach to the strap & anchor to the rear head rest mounting bar.

Like they show in the vid just use a box wrench to pull the pin upwards. No need to get your hand way down there.
