Default Help with a couple things

I know some of this has been covered.. and yes I did try to advance search.. but remember seeing a post about the rear sliding window seal not being up against the glass all the way around. Mine is great on the passenger side but the driver side has 2 spots where the seal is lifted. How about your sliders? I am wondering what will keep water out when I take it to the car wash. I had the truck at the dealer yesterday and when he wrote it up the service advisor said yeah that's a concern. When I picked the truck up, he said he had the technician look at it and the said" they are all like that".... so does that make it right? Does anyone know if there is anything that prevents water intrusion and possible mold formation between the rear wall and the carpet? If water actually gets in there, don't you think Ford would want to fix this before too long?

Also I am trying to install a tailgate dampener on my step tailgate (heavy) and I understand everything.. but try as I will the driver side hinge won't slide off. Is there a trick to this or has anyone else had this issue.

Damn simple DIY project and I can't seem to get co-operation from my truck.

Ideas?

Thanks

Had the same problem with the tailgate - I just had someone hold it.

Default Help with a couple things

Yup, I installed my TG damper on Saturday. Alone....when I pulled it, I wiggled it up and down while pulling straight towards the passenger side without twisting the hinge bushing thing....eventually it popped off, but the bushing liner thing was hanging half out....

When putting the TG back on, it wouldn't slide far enough down on the driver hinge...I had to give it a good shove and it popped into place.

It's definitely a job for 1 person trying not to scratch or dent anything.. But possible...

You don't need to fully remove or have someone hold it, I set up a folding table with an old blanket and rested the passenger side of the tailgate on it....easy as pie! The T50 torque screws where a little hard to remove due to lock-tight

Reckon the seal you see is not the primary water seal - it's cosmetic. I woon't nary fret none - I ain't seen one that looked perfect yet.

Thank you... I'm just so paranoid about denting or scratching it. I have a buddy coming over later and I'll have him hold it away far enough to get that lower screw out.
