OK, I've got the new connector and here is the procedure I followed to repair, and ultimately prevent another issue ( I HOPE) - FYI, my 2016 Ford Edge, has the same wiring and module under the passenger seats, so I'm sure this is a common issue across the board.
The new connector has all the wires in it, so instead of cutting and crimping all the wires, I took those out of the new connector and swapped from the OEM connector... that way I really only have 1 wire to cut

Appears there are differences in these modules even though they look identical across the automotive manufacturers... All from Delphi? If I check for continuity between the unused pin and ground there is no continuity on my trucks module (different result than this post?). I also checked for continuity of the unused pin to several other pins and via's on the circuit board and cant find that it is connected to anything. I have a 2011 Yukon Denali and the module looks identical and I have had the ground pin burn twice now. I am wondering if in some versions of this module the unused pin is soldered into a blind via that goes nowhere? Meaning that if I were to bridge it to the nearby ground pin I could use it as this thread suggests for a second ground to split the current across the two pins? Wondering if someone out there has access to the circuit board design(s) to know what all this extra unused pin has been used for?
After a successful couple of seasons with toasty bums after doing this repair, the passenger side has stopped heating again. Looks like it's shutting off because the back and seat temps are outside the safety variance between eachother. Does that point to an element short or could it be related to the fix? Does anyone happen to have the element 2016 OEM part numbers handy?
It's gotta go in for service this week but they will charge an extra diagnostic fee. Would be nice to do it myself if parts are handy

Noticed that my seats died last night - thought of this thread and was not disappointed. Now to re-read several times and nail down what needs to happen. Thank you!
@Musclford , do you still have repair parts available for this repair/fix of the wiring? I have the same issue going on...over heated ground connection.
Currently sitting in the now working ventilated seats. Thank you for making this thread and being very detailed and thorough. I didn't solder my connection or run it to the seat ground, I instead used a quick splice then a butt splice and taped that up. I wanted it to be easy to access if it happened again. And without losing too much wire, but maybe that's the lineman in me lol. Also greased the pins and got the pins fairly clean. The hardest part was getting the old and melted/welded slider out of the connector. Thanks again!!

Finally took the box out from under the seat and verified the pin and the connector look almost exactly as they do in the writeup at Figures 10 and 14. Now the fun of undoing the pigtail starts, probably this weekend.
I did kinda talk out loud about this in the other thread - did anyone pull out the passenger seat to make room to do the wire work? Never done anything like this before.
