Is this only on the passenger seat and operates both seats?

yes, the module which resides under the passenger seat operates both front seats...

FYI, my buddy's 201* superduty and my 2016 edge have the same module as well, I'm sure this is a FORD wide module and IMO potential problemo !!

Nice write up but why not make another ground? Wouldn't it have been easy to ground that pin to the seat frame instead of running both to the same wire?

Thumbs up Fantastic post!!!

It's quite discouraging to search for over a year for a nice used Lariat and to have a component fail within the first couple of months. I've went to the fuse panel a few times thinking I'm overlooking a connecting circuit that should control the heated/cooled seats, even though the lights on the dash illuminate. I've called the dealer and their "FIX" is to bring it in for a $99 diagnostic fee + any parts and labor.......(parts and labor) will only be covered IF the extended warranty company covers the faulty items. Not wanting to waste time and money at the dealer, I've tried to do this myself and FINALLY discovered a someone experiencing the same issues. The extreme detail of this complete thread is phenomenal!!

I do agree with ChanD, seems like a potential fire hazard.

I'll check out this area below the passenger seat later today and I'll follow up with my findings. I sure hope this is the cause of the failure because I have been provided with complete detail on my DIY repair.

THANKS AGAIN!!!!

I need to look at my daughter's Platinum and apparently keep an eye on my wife's Flex.

This has been a known issue for the 2015-2016 (and maybe more) for some time now. There are at least 5 threads on this topic.

I wrote this up a while ago because I thought it might happen to my truck.
