BUT-

I think I rather first see if I can get a more official replacement of that module.
going to search out some official Ford part sites

EDIT:
Actually, I may be going to extreme on this,
My module is not burned out like most of the experiences on this thread, I'm just having the issue where there is no heat to feel and when cooling is turned on, the fans do kick in for a few seconds and then die down.
Looking at the connector just now, its only just now getting discolored, so I may be just fine with only focusing on the pigtail swap and some dielectric grease
You need to scan for DTCs with FORScan to see if there are codes which indicate why there is no heat. It could be any number of things like a sensor of a bad TED. It might not be the SCME module that is the problem.

update -
Used FORScan today to clear my P0299 code after replacing the turbo valve. I do also have an error related to the front shutter but nothing else.
Also using the FORScan Lite version on my phone I was able to run a test on the front seats. I was in Awe to hear the fans come on full blast during the test, cause any time I hit the cooling button, the fans do turn on, but quickly die down to almost no power…. Are there more tests in the full extended version of FORscan?

Can't comment on the FORScan HVAC tests as I've never run one yet.

The TEDs have a filter on the inlet side. If this gets plugged it can effect air flow and TED temperature. Check to see if the filter needs cleaning.

Do you have anything under the seat? The TEDs, especially in cooling mode, rely on air movement under the seat to exhaust the heat emitted by the TED. Remember that there are TEDs in the seat backs as well. The seatback TEDs can effect how the seat cushion TEDs operate. Ford added a "sock" to the backrest TEDs to aid in exhausting the waste heat (in cooling mode) or cold (in heating mode).

I have noticed that when my truck was new, if I turned the cooling on High, after a few minutes the seat bottom got so cold that it made you feel like you had pee'd your pants. Now, after years, it never seems to get that cold. Plus, I don't think the seats get as hot as they used to in heating mode. I've been going to check the TED filters but just haven't done that yet.

This shows the filter on the seat cushion (bottom).

This is the backrest TED with sock.

@52merc you are a blessing with sharing so much info!

I bought my truck used but- without a doubt the seats used to get so chilly that I would turn them on without saying anything and passengers would think they got wet!

OK, so I think I’m on a good path here and my prime suspect right now is dog hair prob got sucked in to a vent.
the FORScan test was good and made those fans blow real hard for a few seconds, so I need to check those filters.

any advice on how to access them?
do i need to remove the whole seat?

This website has some good info. I'm not affiliated with the site nor have I made any modifications to my TEDs, yet that is. I'm contemplating the modification, only it will have to wait until next year now. Winter is here and my truck doesn't fit in the garage.

@52merc did ford ever update this design to correct the ground issue, or does it affect all Gen13 trucks?

I’ve just purchased a “new to me” 2020 platinum, and I’m wondering if I’ll need to add an additional ground wire.

Only the early Gen-13s have this (MY2015-17). In the later trucks Ford changed, going away from the TEDs to a heater pad (for heat) and just a fan for cooling by ventilating. The control module is different for the later trucks. You are OK.

[QUOTE=Musclford;6114507]Hey All,

Under the passenger seat there is a module held by 2- 25mm Torx screws. There are 1 large and 2 smaller connectors on the module which can easily be pulled out (after you back out the small blue locks on the small connectors)
I would recommend, even if your seats are working today, pull out the LARGE connector so you can observe if your about to have a failure.

I've got a 2019 Lariat with heated/cooled seats. The buttons light up, the passenger side gets warm, the drivers side does nothing. When I turn on the cooling part, I can see and feel air blowing so the fans are working. I DO NOT have the module under the passenger seat.
Did it move to another location in 2019?
Any suggestions why only the drivers side would not be working? Broken element?
Anyhelp is appreciated. If I can find the module, I'll check that myself without taking it into a dealership. Truck has 44K miles, one owner.

Thanks!

@mdc9966 in 2018 they changed the seats to heated/ventilated which also changed the module. It uses the driver's seat module under the driver's side, for a 2019, I don't know of a module failing like this thread on a 2018 or later but anything possible, I'd lean to a bad element or maybe a bad module for your issue. Does the ventilation work at all? That might help point you towards a heating element (pad).

Yes, the ventilation fans both sides come on when I press the cool switch.

I'm going to drop it off at the dealership in the morning for diagnosis. Hopefully they see something obvious, atleast I'll get an estimate to fix it.

Does anyone know if there is a diy on the forum to change the heating element if thats the problem? I really hope they don't try to upsell me that I need a new seat.

Thanks, everyone
