Like nick said, the hot pipes and charge pipe come from the bottom, the intercooler is located lower and at a slight angle. Mine is a 2014, and I haven't had any issues out of it.

Hey there everyone,
I wanted to make sure I jumped in here to let you all know I'm here to help. Whether it's to investigate some available options regarding a vehicle concern, or documenting some product or dealer feedback from a previous experience, all I'll need is a PM with some details, including your name and best daytime contact number.
Thanks!
Brittany

How about the cold start rattle? The oil dilution? The clicking rear end? The noisy HPFI system?
My 2013 XLT Scab Eco only has 21k miles on it and it suffers from all of these problems. It has already been in the shop a few times, they completely rebuilt the rear end in an attempt to fix the "clicking" noises it makes, was fine for a month and then right back at it again. I've had the cold start rattle since 10k and fords answer to this problem is "normal operating noise". Some people are getting stretched timing chains, is that related or a different problem altogether?
I love my ecoboost, I love the torque it makes and the ease with which it tows my work trailer, I love everything about my truck, but I cannot trust it to last the long haul. My Bronco lasted me 290k before I reluctantly traded it in, never needed a transmission or a motor in all of that time. I just don't think with these problems with the new truck this early on in the motors life that it will be able to achieve the same mileage without major motor work. That is why I have decided to trade it in for a 2015 with the same setup except this time a 5.0 instead of the ecoboost.
