Ask for the VIN, lookup the VIN. Get photos also, before you head out there.

My son is quite limited on time with his job as he is on the road a lot but he just texted me there are a couple of trucks on that lot he wants to look at so we will be off first thing in the morning.

Funny thing this mystery unicorn truck isn't on their website either.

He really doesn't like a lot of the Lariat features but really wanted the LED headlights so I guess we are taking the bait.

If this thing is real pics will follow :)

Don't buy a truck because of a SINGLE feature. You can always put LED lights in later. I wanted REALLY BAD a truck with LED headlights, till I realized it was out of my price range. Happy I got my XLT. I did want Navigation so I refused to settle for less, but most trucks had the 502A package and navigation. I also wanted the center console... got that, only a column shifter still but that's fine, the center console is what I wanted.

You can always add LED headlights later. Either via Raptor Retrofit for the actual OEM Ford lights or via LED Headlight kits... both are great options depending on your budget.

When I was shopping for my 2015 XLT, I found 2 XLT extended cabs at a Houston dealership that had the LED headlights, one Black and one Silver. I called the dealership and they verified they had the LED headlights - but I didn't want an extended cab. When I asked the dealer how they were able to get XLT F150s with the LED Headlights, they didn't fully understand the question - the 2015s were pretty new to everyone... He said he would get back with me on it. Couple hours later he called and told me they came from the factory that way...

I guess Ford was hiding Easter eggs in a select few trucks... Or perhaps manufacturing error? Just keep your eyes peeled... The "ala cart" nature of an F150 is enough to confuse any salesman, especially when they have to stay on top of the features of Focuses, Fiestas, Explorers, etc along with the F150... You may run into one of these unicorns if you look hard enough...

Kinda what I was worried about too.

Ask them to send you some pictures of the trucks before you drive four hours.

sounds like a lariat to me. i'd venture to say some of the dealers don't completely understand the trim packages. pull the vin and check ford's website and you'll be able to tell real quick. this may sound dumb, but check the badge on the fender that shows the trim package in any pictures. when i was looking for a truck there were alot of mis-labeled dealer pages - lots of KR/Lariats, and XLT/Lariats.
